I sent my votes directly to Ark13. Even if the thread were to end in nothing, I enjoyed playing through all the games submitted. I like threads like this one.

I agree. I feel that I don't have enough chess understanding yet to decide which moves were most brilliant, and even if I did, it would take a large amount of time to try to get deep into each of the proposed moves and compare them to each other, so I won't vote. But it was interesting to look at some of the moves, so I'd say the thread wasn't wasted, no matter whether there will be a prize awarded or not.

I also looked at all of them and found a lot to like, but don't feel competent to vote on a winner.

If you feel uncomfortable about posting the votes, you can do them through PM too. And don't worry about not being good enough. Just pick the ones that you think look the best, or are the most clever.

How long is voting open for? I don't really have time to look at them all today.

I'll give it a couple of days, so you have plenty of time.

Great thread ark. I enjoyed looking at all the games even though I came across it too late to enter any from myself.

Anyway, after some consideration here's my vote:

1st - kyo game 557990
2nd ark13 game 1076871
3rd ~Tony~ game 1266292

🙂🙂🙂

I'd still like to see your would be entries, personally. All the games posted so far have been really artistic. I wouldn't mind seeing some more.

I'm really proud of this game, which I completed just a few minutes ago. I know it's probably not brilliant chess by me, but it was very exciting. In retrospect move 20 was my key move, but he then surprised me by taking my knight, which I hadn't seen coming. Move 24 was also good, because instead of just trying to win a rook for a knight I saw that I could force mate.

31 ... Rd4 was pretty neat, drawing the white rook off the first rank. Followed by 32. Rxd4 Qf1+ 33. Kg4 f5+ 34. Kh4 Be7++

Great one! I also liked the one you posted in a similar tread in the ideas forum a while ago.

I've posted this game here before and also in the Valkyrie Storm forum... so quite frankly I'm tired of looking at it, but enjoy.

(I can't do the fancy board thing, so meh.)

What is so brilliant about this move? If white replies Nxg7+ (instead of Qxg7) he will end with the advantage.

Btw. this position has occurred many times before. In the game Velimirovic - Bronstein 1970, black played 15. ... fxe6 and won. The move 15. ... Qxc3 has had variable results (win, loss, draw).

It is pretty easy actually: go to the game history, follow the moves until you reach the position in question then simply click on the Get PGN link, at the bottom of that lies the fen you need. Copy it, then click insert fen and paste 🙂. Like this (EDITED)
EDIT: Seems it just has the fen of the final position 🙁.
Well I will do it the long way then 🙂 . Here you go:

To Mephisto: Are you sure about that? After 16.Nxg7+ Kf8 it seems like White should draw /Black is a piece ahead by that point/ with 17.Ne6+ Ke8! (17...fxe?? 18.Qf4+ and 19.bxc + - ) 18.Ng7+ Kf8 and draw by three-fold repetition.
