You have to support a ban in principle when it comes to confidential matters like this, but defending MPP against someone as helpful and constructive as Fat Lady feels a bit like supporting the right of Oswald Mosley to stroll through Cable Street.
I've been thinking about this and the problem is that this is the most important of the forum rules. How much of your real identity you want to reveal and how much of an alterego you want your on line character to be is up to you. How much privacy you want to guarantee is also your concern. David Tebb lets us all know exactly who he is, I tell you who I am in my profile but not enough to be traced, and Bedlam is anonymous. Since there is no reason to reveal someone's real identity to the community, and several reasons not to, it should never happen and is potentially dangerous: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/6157190.stm
Really the mods couldn't ignore it, and had it been the other way round I can imagine a certain amount of gloating. On face value I find it difficult to oppose a ban. There is one question I have. How did FatLady know this information? If it was in MMP's profile and has now been removed then I think that would shed a different light on things, I find it implausible that MMP would have told him.

Okay, you're still not getting it, so here's a hint: not everything in quotation marks is literal.
Originally posted by DeepThoughtMPP posted info in his profile making it very easy to find out who he is. He sent his photos to Gatecrasher with his full name included. He continually bates people by accusing them of hiding behind an anonymous internet alias, unlike him.

Seeing as most of his posts have been removed from this site, here are samples from other chess websites..."Don't excessively know a Debra you inbred moron. But I do smartly know wich u will lose ten out of 10 marginally games of chess to me......Second at any time control. In any event you are just another snivelling coward that hides behind an alias. Keeping all the same trully pathetic!."
And from a different site...""You're a joke. You're a trembling little coward that is hiding behind a
psuedonym. Probably the loser Matt N____rs. If I could get your pathetic
little a$$ in front of me in real life you would pi$$ your pants and run
home to your mommy. That is a fact."
The same type posts were posted here in a removed thread.

Amaurote: "I support Al Qaeda."
It was a throwaway joke about translating a mildly liberal bit of fluff into a right-wing American vocabulary. Perhaps we need more irony-meter vendors on ebay.
