Steady progress in tactics I take it and absolutely no progress in opening, middle game and end games.
my blitz is around 1300-1400 on fics, where I don't have the time to think things through. I lose maybe 50% of the games where I'm a piece up, by screwing up the simple ending. conscious thinking is far too slow for blitz, you need to have the basics down already to be able to run through the variations fast enough. same thing with the openings, I get into trouble because my average opponent knows the openings much better.
pretty much. you improve on what you train, not on what you don't train.
Faulty statement. You improve when you correct mistakes. Every game is an opportunity to learn and get better.

Blitzes are even more about tactics than standard or CC.

In say a 3 minute game, you haven’t enough time to work out all the tactics and have to rely on your instincts and chess knowledge to make educated guesses about the merits of a move.
EDIT: Oh, on rereading your post we pretty much said the same thing but came to a different conclusion regarding tactics.
EDIT2: On further rereading of your post I see that what we agreed on was actually a quote. Sorry, brain switched to holiday mode ATM.

Far be it from me to dictate what others should post, but if I was a forum Moderator I would close this thread and state that:
The thread originator was just trying to get an ego boost by getting fellow posters to say how good he is, in relation to how bad most of us are.
And to Eladar:
Your out of order and should take a step back and not take things personal.
Merry Christmas to you both.

well, you're at 1405 now. lets see where you're in a year. my money is on that you haven't progressed one bit.
my way you'd be at solid 1600 come spring. easily. but people like you never get better because they can't take advice without seeing it as a personal insult.
It's obvious he just wants to fight and cause trouble. He goes so low as to calling people names when he can't think of anything else to say. He likes to call people arrogant because they have a higer chess rating than himself but he is really the arrogant one because he seems to believe that only his way is the right way and that everyone else is wrong unless they are agreeing with him.

Here is some examples that proves he likes to fight and argue. Some of these threads go on for like 3 or 4 pages i think. Just arguing back and forth.
Eladar vs. shortcircuit (only 1 page but almost the entire page)

If telling me it makes me feel better about myself, then say it.
By the way, did I ever make a comment to you or did you feel the need to jump in for some reason? What does the Bible say about getting into an argument that doesn't concern you? Try reading Proverbs 26.*
There is a place for arguing on here, though. It's got the "debate" forum. Maybe you should check that out. This really isn't the place for that.

p.s. Try to focus on the good in the world and not on everything that is wrong with it. Thinking the worst of people (for example, thinking wormwood is being sarcastic and arrogant because he says he's still like a beginner in some areas) and about all the problems that exist in the world will only make you angry, resentful, and bitter. Focusing on the good things, past and present, even if they are only little things, can make a positive difference in anybody's life. Hopefully this is the end of the fighting on here. No hard feeling I hope. Best wishes.
i've heard "somewhere" that it takes 10,000 hours to master a subject or endeavor. now don't start counting the hours, for it is "quality" hours, not just hanging out in the library, tilly-dallying with your friends.
regarding the original post, inbetween beginner and master stage is fuzzy, you clearly know when you've acheived and surpassed it. if you need to ask, likely you haven't reached it.
But you are making so many posts and arguing with so many people on this thread i guess you can't keep track of them all, huh?
I do not believe it was the same topic. WW made the comment that I would not improve in a year's time. It is typical for people like me.
You decided to jump in on that paticular argument. You can either take the Bible's correction or ignore it. If you ignore it, that's not surprising. Many Christians ignore parts of the Bible that they personally disagree with.
