Here is a nice puzzle. White to play and win.
[fen]k2K3R/1p6/1P6/8/8/7P/8/q7 w[/fen]
1. Re8! Qd1+
2. Kc7+ Qd8+
3. Rxd8#
or;
1. Re8! Qa4
2. Ke7+ Qxe8+
3. Kxe8
and now Black can only move their King a8-b8 continously and White promotes the h-pawn.
This means then he can play
h8=Q/R Ka8(or Kb8)
Ke7#
Nice puzzle but, like mine, needs to be harder!

Originally posted by AlethiaNo. While moving the pawn, the queen will just walk along the 7th rank.if the pawn comes to h6, the queen can't stay there, of course. She must move to f7 to avoid Rf8 if the rook hasn't moved yet. White has a good situation here, if black doesn't make mistakes, white can't win. So 1.Re8 is incorrect.
Then can't you just push th h-pawn until you promote it, swop off or force the queen to move or take it and then win.
