@sonhouse saidBeg to differ on that one. On the vexed question of the origin of life, for example, there are two distinct but related theoretical issues: a historical and an ahistorical one. The historical issue is: how, where, when did life get started? In what tide pool or volcanic vent? And what were the prebiotic conditions which prevailed at the time (i.e., what were the actual ingredients which combined to form self-replicating auto-catalytic molecules)? The second more general question is: what are the laws of chemistry and physics which made this possible?
@Ponderable
And Carl Popper put in his two cents worth, it is not a theory if it is not falsifiable.
With respect to the first, „the paleobiologic record runs out after about 3-4 billion years when cellular life was already well established.“ (Addy Pross, What Is Life, page 88). Which means that there is no fossil record of what preceded cellular life, because simpler self-replicating molecules don‘t leave ‚hard shells‘ behind in the fossil record. There‘s a gap in the evidence at the beginning, so whatever theory is propounded for the historical question is not going to be falsifiable. It must remain speculative (though not idly so).
However, for the more general question, what physical and chemical processes are involved, this can be tested here and now in labs, and is therefore in principle falsifiable.
@KellyJay
I have a lot on the old plate for sure. For one thing, California can't find my GED paper so it looks like I have to take that one again, been a while. Quite HS, living at grammas house with 5 cousins, 6 weeks from HS grad, found myself seeing sexual abuse of the girls, I couldn't take watching it, went back home, goodbye graduation, so went to Palomar College in San Marcos California and did it there and SAT's but they can't find the paper, it was like 1959 or so.
Just one of the problems here.
The one job offer I have depends on that damn GED.
@sonhouse saidKnow you don’t believe but I praying for you.

@KellyJay saidIn fact angels are not subject to physical science at all. Physics only deals with phenomenon which are reproducible. (As Moonbus pointed out the theory of evolution suffers from describing a singular thing, that is not reproduciblae as such)
You know the physical dimensions of angelic beings?
@Ponderable saidWell, no evolution describes something that alters trillions upon trillions of different cells in each life form over time across every species of life. If you believe in a common first life every transition in form and function making a unique life would also have to be made possible by different paths of mutation. All the while not ruining life moving towards death or horrible health issues!

Actively doing this to delicate moving targets, and when different sexes show up keeping males and females in harmony with each other they change them to remain capable with each other as they both change independently.
An amazing amount of alternating mutations in shear numbers is required while maintaining all that must stay consistently healthy within each life, compatible with the opposite sex, within its entire species.
Not simple nor reasonable! Altering genetic code information would cause that in an unguided process.

@Ponderable saidA piss pour example!
Do discuss evolution somewhere else, please, since this one is about scientific theory as a tool not about any specific application. Evolution did pop up as an example.
