Ouch Fabian,
Science and religion are both attempts to make sense of the universe and our presence in it. As such, they [b]do overlap.
If we can't trust experiments done on the supernatural, how can we trust those done on the natural? Since God is able to manipulate matter without regard for the normal laws of physics (miracles), we must assume his ...[text shortened]... it an extra little push.
If you wish to respond, please start a new thread.

Religion and science don't overlap. Science deals with natural laws of physics. Religion deals with anything super-natural phenomena. The two domains *do not* overlap there. Crisp as corn-flakes.
Where science fail to explain, religion explains. Science fails to explain the existance of a god, fails to explian the holy trinity, fails to explain life after death, and such things. Religion, on the other hand cannot explain evolution, BigBang, string theory, gravitation, and such. And why? They belong to separate domains.
Let's go to gravitation again. Do we agree that the gravitational constant really is constant? Can you pray for some deviation? Measurable deviation? No, you cannot. Can science make a person walk on water? Yes it can. Just freeze the water and we can all walk on water, NHL does it on a regular basis, believe it or not. As Jesus didn't have freeze technology, if he did it must take a miracle. However, in the domain of science there is no place for miracles, for that it takes relgion to believe.
I still say that religion and science never can mix. Noone has convinced me on anything else. Only opinions of the oposite rules. Nothing more. But I am open to a debate.
Ouch.

Religion and science don't overlap.
If only their respective advocates realised that.
Where science fail to explain, religion explains.
I don't think religion is in the business of explaining so much as providing a narrative, and I think that's different.
But I am open to a debate.
Really? Let's see.

So would you like to give me a case where religion and science overlap?

Now before I give any cases I think we should try to agree what is meant by 'overlap' and the success criteria for establishing that this has happened.
I think science comprises a family of methods for finding out about the world, whereas religion furnishes a community of adherents with narratives which serve various functions. These processes are as different as, say propositional logic and dance, so there should be no overlap.
Stephen J. Gould gave this a snappy acronym NOMA (as I'm sure you know). My problem with the notion has always been this: mutual trespass by the practitioners within each domain. That and that they're not really magisteria.
What say you?

Now when you say "demon" and when you say"Jesus" you think know what you are talking about?,I'm not so sure. But the energies asccoiated with that experience do sound very transformative๐
No questions for now๐

If you were my son, i would've taken you to the psychiatrist.
That's ok I have a great life, wife, child, and more things in my possession then I'll ever need. Also on a side note it must be easy to make a negitive statement to someone you'll never meet. It takes very little courage to do that. If your ever in Renton Washington, look me up. I'll repeat that please, look me up. I am a man that if I have something to say I will say it to there face. You must hold your. I'm tempted now, how can we contact each other for a more personal talk. posting it here is wide open no need to have everyone see. Do you live in Renton Washington by chance? or ever visit?
I'm sure you'll say something smart back, but at least I know you only talk cause your not in my face. Me complete opposite. Remember thats Renton Washington, send me a message should you ever visit. ok now go get yourself that good sleep knowing what I said is true.
