Actually, it has been proven at least 4 people wrote the first 4 books of the bible and the 5th Deuteronomy could not have been written by Mo for the simple reason it gave great details about Mo's death, something a bit hard for Mo himself to have done don't you think? But linguistic analysis of the first 4 books show 4 distinct writing styles and all of th ...[text shortened]... orth. You can find out about the kings of the divided kingdoms of Judah and Israel in the books of Kings and Chronicles. The division of the kingdom under Rehoboam and Jeroboam can be found in 1 Kings 12:1 through 14:31.

And you can't even begin to understand the degradation of human attributes assigned to gods. You swollow the ponzi scheme of religion hook line and sinker, not even CONSIDERING the idea the whole concept of your god as just made up by men who wished to set up a religion that could trap people for the express purpose of control.

Don't you think it strange the top leaders are the ones with the mansions?
But you will not listen to anything i say. You are too wrapped up, certain without a fault, there can be no God.
God must fit into this box which you have contrived. You are no better than the millions of christains that oppose you, for they too fit God into a box of thier own choosing.
And I, and i stand frustrated at the whole damn thing. Because i know. And i'm not allowed to go beyond a piont in sharing, in speaking the truth. You and the lot do not have the faith. The simplest of things, to have deep faith. The Christains all talk about believing in Christ. But tell one christain, oh ya, i see, hear and talk to God everyday. And they will say impossible, you are crazy. So now tell me Sonhouse, do i fit into this ponzi scheme. i am christain, but they will celibrate amoung themselves, and rejioce at my death when it comes.
Originally posted by RJHindsI know about Rabbinic tradition, they need to have Mo be the only author but linguistic analysis has proven them wrong, there were at least 4 different authors.

Something I have said several times here, I want freedom FROM religion. Now I find out ( from a little ad in Scientific American) other people thought the exact same thing!

One of their sayings: Freedom from religion, reason's greetings!
Wow, unbeknownst to me, I found their facebook page and found my son Kevin is part of the group! I can't wait to talk to him about it.
Just as you don't want religious nutters bothering you, I could also do without these "Freedom from Religion" nutters bothering me.

Archaeological studies over the last 200 years have shown the historical records of the bible were for the most part, accurate. The one thing it doesn't do is show two Israel's, Judah in the south around Beershiva, not mentioned in the bible and the 'kingdom of Israel' in the more lush valleys of the north. Judah was poor in comparison and had to have more strict rules for survival in the desert.
Perhaps you could take another spin through Numbers.
Originally posted by SuzianneI realized it was probably in the bible but just not as prominent. Spoke a bit too soon. They were desert rats as opposed to the "Kingdom of Israel" who had the best farm lands up north.

I know the territory, worked in Jerusalem for 4 years, we (my wife and I and friends there) play folk music and played in festivals from one end of Israel to the other, which is not exactly continent spanning🙂

There is practically no place I could move to on the planet where I wouldn't be effected in some way by the ultra religious crowd. Maybe on top of a mountain in the Andes, maybe Antarctica. Not much way of making a living there though.

For one tiny but slightly annoying example: Blue laws here in Pennsylvania.
You can buy guns on sunday but not beer. Exactly what is that all about?
