@sonship saidOn the contrary, it's an opportunity for Christians - and others - to talk positively about how their faith in action can be brought to bear upon societal problems. You don't need to participate if it falls outside your area of interest.
@FMF
Hate crimes in the U.S. have reportedly increased dramatically in the last two years. How can Christians [and other people interested in spiritual and the human condition] tackle this issue?
Is this another - 'Crappy things are happening. Let's see if we can blame Christians directly or indirectly somehow, for them" thread ?

Ah you're just too good to us FMF. The "opportunities" you provide us to say something about our Lord are just too generous.
@sonship saidDo you have a response to the OP? Or is talking positively about faith in action and society a no-go area for you?

@fmf saidYou have totally Miss read this. We're actually contending that what they say the trend is isn't actually the trend.
The OP question is for Christians and other people interested in the spiritual dimension of this issue. You, as a Christain, appear not to want to talk about it ~ except in political terms ~ because of something you read on some blog or other. That is your prerogative as a Christian responding to my OP.
It's also kind of funny because this would clearly be exclusively a political discussion. I know that me and some of the Christians here actually have very different political views that don't match up at all.
This is the sort of threat that does much better in the debates for because there isn't necessarily any reason to believe that there would be a chasm between what Christians and non-christians would think about this
@philokalia saidThese Christian points of view would be interesting to hear.

@philokalia saidFeel free to start a similar thread wherever you want.

@philokalia saidYou said this already, although you didn't say "we" before.

@philokalia saidBut for me, just Christian points of view ~ and those of other regular posters here ~ would be interesting to hear.
If you would like to see Christians and non-Christians discuss political views, there's actually an entire forum dedicated to it called "Debates."
@philokalia saidSend me a PM about this if you want.

I remember you saying you never go there.
But why?

@fmf saidI appreciate that.

My perspective is that the actual number of hate crimes haven't increased dramatically.
Belief that one race is inferior to another is not Christian; we are all called by God. Hate crimes can never be right.
However, the discussion does go a lot deeper than that because people often try to say that Pres. Trump's election empowers hate crimes or some such, which is a very big step beyond the pale. There is an effort to equate anything remotely nationalistic with being a racist that runs around in a bed sheet, and this is a disturbing trend.
@philokalia saidSo your entire proof that you are not racist is that you do not "run around in a bed sheet"?
I appreciate that.

@philokalia saidBut you claim that lower intelligence is linked to race...
