In Indonesia, we have over 300 ethnic groups. There are four major ones here on the island I live on. How many "white" ethnic groups do you think there are?
Are Bretons an ethnicity or just a group of French people? Are the French an ethnicity, or do we want to apply some divisions that are no longer so relevant?
Of course, the definitions of these things are slippery.
You know what else is slippery as far as definitions go? Pornography. And even within pornography, there are countless genres and subgenres.
Perhaps that's the beauty of words and systems. We can never be fully sure.

I also assume this is one of those silly moments where I have actually dodged a far larger bullet by not claiming anything that is fundamentally untrue, e.g., being an American claiming to be an ethnic Norwegian in spite of not being a full Norwegian, and my general caution on these topics and careful positioning is rewarded only with a more silly sort of low level nitpicking.
I also like how FMF doesn't engage with anything I said about the defining of ethnic groups and how that can be problematic but simply insists that I admit I don't know how many white ethnic groups there are.
