You can love a God like that? Can you? OK ! Read the entire passage. Always read the whole passage before putting your foot in your mouth.

THE PASSAGE IS ABOUT GOOD WORKS. You are assured of eternal life IF, I ...[text shortened]... n only those who keep his commandments and whoever keeps Christ commandments dwells in Christ.
Christ dwells in only those who keep his commandments and whoever keeps Christ commandments dwells in Christ.

---------------rajk99--------------------------------

I would argue that Christ can choose to live in anyone He likes if they receive Him.

Presumably Christ lives in you and you live in Him. Is this your experience? Do you experience Him as living within you via the Holy Spirit? This is not a trap , I just want to know what your experience of Him is.

You for one should know that I dont tout works only, as we have been down this road many times before.

Faith and works are both important.

The clear teachings of the Bible are that :
1. A man cannot obtain salvation on the basis of faith alone ...[text shortened]... y day .. therefore its of no value..]

So from my corner it is not a faith v works argument.
I would beg to differ becaue I would not have entered into this debate had I
seen a balance faith/works from you. Since from the beginning I've stated over
and over that everyone would be doing works.

You can argue all you like. What I have done is simply to quote the very clear scripture, which says the opposite of what you are saying.

1. CHRIST LIVES IN THOSE WHO FOLLOWS HIS COMMANDMENTS
2. YOU ARE ASSURED OF SALVATION IF YOU DO GOOD WORKS.

Read the damn Bible and shut up.

And for the last time .. I DO NOT ASK NEITHER DO I TELL, WHAT MY PERSONAL EXPERIENCE WITH CHRIST, OR WHAT WORKS I DO. I WILL ALSO RESPECT YOUR PRIVACY AND NOT ASK PERSONAL QUESTIONS.

Please do not waste your time asking me personal questions. I dont know you.

Ephesians 2:8-10
Worldwide English (New Testament) (WE)

8 You have been saved by God's love and kindness because you believed. It was not because of anything you did, but it was a gift from God.

9 You were not saved by trying to do what the law says. So no one can be proud about it.

10 God has made us. In Jesus Christ God made us so that we can do good things. He planned that we should live that way.

Outstanding! This is the heart of the discussion, again no one is saying good
works are not going to be done, but we do them in right standing with God in
Jesus Christ. The works are going to be done, but not so as to earn our way into
God's favor.

Thanks for this post.

Because after all I've read in this thread about your so-called ideas on "real" Christianity, this post sums up your actual walk (perhaps I should say "leisurely stroll" ) in Christ, yet as compared with all your other posts about what you claim "real" Christianity is (i.e. your "talk" ), you reveal here that, as I had already surmised, you can really "talk the talk", but you fail at "walking the walk".

Oh, do not be afraid of me asking you "personal" questions. I can't say I care to know the answers.

Like many others here who take the Bible as their Lord, you talk ad nauseum about what Christians need to do to be "real" Christians, and yet you yourself blatantly do not follow the commandments of Christ.

"If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?
And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also." -- 1 John 4:20-21

Do you have anything of substance to add to the topic of the thread, or are all your opinions shallow and uninformed.

Please tell me you can do better than that.

I thought what she said was succinct and concise as you spell out God's grace
it is to be earned so some could boast as you tend to do here, as you lamblast
others who do not in your eyes meet your standards.

Blimey Rajk!!! It's not as if I am asking you to reveal anything major , all you have to do is say something like ...." yes I have experienced the Holy Spirit and I can say that Christ lives in me and I in Him , and I am born again" or you could say " I haven't the faintest clue what you are talking about "

Either way you wouldn't exactly be washing your dirty linen in public.

Don't realize that you just proved her point?

Why don't you just be nice to us and argue and debate in a civil way?

You lack the ability to read and understand simple English.

Please quote or say in your own words where I boasted about anything.
Please also quote or say in your own words where I 'lamblast' anyone who does not meet my standards [regarding works .. I presume that is what you mean]

All I have done is to quote where Christ and the Apostles state clearly that works are essential or that everyone will be judged by their works.

You started a thread to discuss the Holy Spirit. Did you respond to the questions I asked? Do you consider that you are discussing in a civil way by abandoning the thread you started claiming you want discuss the Holy Spirit with me?

Of what relevance is my personal experience or personal activites, to the topic?

It's relevant because of what Jesus said. This is a debate about Truth , therefore what Jesus said about Truth should be of some interest to you. I would like to know if you have experienced the Holy Spirit. The reason? - what Jesus said see below......

"He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn't looking for him and doesn't recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you. " New Living Translation John 14:17

The above implies directly that those who live in Truth have the Holy Spirit living with them and in them. These are Jesus' words not mine. Am I not entitled to ask whether the above is true for you or not?
