No he wasn't.
If you think "scripture" and "print" are synonyms you are seriously fckd up.

Besides which do you think "the scriptures consist of print"?
If every written word disappeared would the scriptures no longer exist?
Come on ... say something sensible ...

Originally posted by @wolfgang59If the 'scriptures' are the sacred writings of Christianity contained in the Bible, then yes the scriptures consist of print. If it was was clearly written in the Bible that rape was good and somewhere else that rape was bad then yes the Bible would be ambivalent on the morality of rape. So if you provide me with a clear reference where the Bible explicitly says that rape is good I will agree with you.

But if in the open country a man meets a young woman who is betrothed, and the man seizes her and lies with her, then only the man who lay with her shall die. But you shall do nothing to the young woman; she has committed no offense punishable by death.

Originally posted by @dj2beckerSo Deuteronomy 22:25-27 says you shouldn't rape a woman who is engaged to a man? What about women who are not betrothed? What about married women? What about widows? Is Deuteronomy 22:25-27 still in force?
Deuteronomy 22:25-27

Originally posted by @dj2beckerAs FMF has pointed out, the specification of 'betrothed' obviously excludes women who are not in this state. So it is by no means an unambiguous condemnation of rape in any circumstances. As you are well aware.
