Nothing wrong with it at all. He was sworn in on a Bible.
ANY interaction of this president with a Bible is hypocritical at best.

Especially after tear-gassing peaceful protesters because they were in his way.

Well, yeah. That's the part I am hung up on. It's not the Bible bit at all; I should think discerning people see that for the fakery it is.

It's the use of the military to silence free speech, which I THOUGHT was still a fundamental right in this country.

What message do you think Trump delivered when he used that church [and the Bible] as a backdrop? Did his message resonate with you as a Christian?
His gesture didn't really resonate with me at all. But this "Church of Presidents" was firebombed and sits just a block away from the White House. The church is a historical landmark and a beacon of hope for over 2 centuries. The destruction of the church by never-Trumper thugs taking orders from politicians and the media? Sure, I had a problem with that. Any decent American should.

Well, I can remember cringing when Obama would make reference to the bible... as if... so at least I can relate.

So, since just about everyone but the people who would benefit from the tear-gassing claim says tear gas wasn't used... what makes you so sure about it? Because the Trump-hating, politically motivated bishop says so? What. Something made a loud noise and she assumed it was tear gas? Were her eyes personally burned by the alleged tear gas? If only there were proof, since so many disagree with her claim. Hmm? Oh! I know! Let's get the Twitter fact-check team on it! 🙄

The imagery was, well, interesing, he was clutching a bible upside down, think about what it would have indicated had he had hold of a cross.

So, there's no spiritual dimension ~ to your own way of thinking ~ to Trump's photo-op with the Bible and all that... have I understood you correctly?

What was it that made you cringe?

What link do you draw between the principle of freedom of speech on one hand and the teachings of Jesus on the other?

So, I will ask you again; what message do you think Trump delivered to your fellow Christians [regardless of whether it happens to resonate with you or not] when he used the church and the Bible as a backdrop and prop?

Why does it matter what message I think Trump delivered to other Christians? Shouldn't you ask them directly?

Technically, I believe there's a spiritual dimension or meaning to any significant event.

But as a general answer, I think Trump did it for political gain and as an attempt to shape public opinion.

His history, his political views, the people he admired, his actions, etc. in my opinion, proved him to be a fake Christian. Things are bad enough in the world right now and sorry, but I'm not going to spend anymore of my energy talking about Obama. This is hopefully my last post with him as the subject. I only (and regrettably) brought him up as an example of how I can empathize with Suzianne as she cringes when Trump holds a bible.

Because I am asking you directly what you think because you are a Christian and it is, after all, the topic of discussion.

Does Trump make you cringe for similar reasons when he does things like hold a Bible up?

Ok, then, "technically", if that's what you want, what do you think was the spiritual dimension and meaning to the recent event where Trump help up a Bible?
