@tom-wolsey saidWhy don’t you “cringe” when Trump makes reference to the bible?
Well, I can remember cringing when Obama would make reference to the bible... as if... so at least I can relate.
@tom-wolsey saidDo you think that the only reason the bishop spoke out was politically motivated?
So, since just about everyone but the people who would benefit from the tear-gassing claim says tear gas wasn't used... what makes you so sure about it Because the Trump-hating, politically motivated bishop says so?
@tom-wolsey saidYou ARE being asked directly!
Why does it matter what message I think Trump delivered to other Christians? Shouldn't you ask them directly?
Why be so furtive? You voted for Trump, you are a supporter of Trump, you are a Christian, you are being asked.

The imagery was, well, interesing, he was clutching a bible upside down, think about what it would have indicated had he had hold of a cross.

@badradger saidNo, what I was thinking is that an upside down cross, at least in Hammer Horror films, is a Satanist symbol - haven't you seen Lust for a Vampire?

@divegeester saidI didn't say I don't.
Why don’t you “cringe” when Trump makes reference to the bible?

@divegeester saidOh puh-lease. I was asked what OTHER Christians think.
You ARE being asked directly!

@fmf saidTechnically I think every significant event is pre-ordained by God. For His own reasons. Trump pissed a lot of people off. He also, I'm sure, fired up his evangelical base. These things can lead to, literally, "God knows what." I don't know. I just believe things are going according to plan.
Ok, then, "technically", if that's what you want, what do you think was the spiritual dimension and meaning to the recent event where Trump help up a Bible?
@tom-wolsey said"Technically" speaking, what is the spiritual message ~ not a political one ~ with which you think Trump has "fired up" evangelical Christians? You seem intent on talking about a political dimension but I am interested in what spiritual message for Christians you perceive there to be. This is a question about spirituality not politics.

@tom-wolsey saidDon’t run away!
I didn't say I don't.
So you do cringe when Trump mentions the bible?
06 Jun 20
@tom-wolsey saidYou’re running away a lot today.
Oh puh-lease. I was asked what OTHER Christians think.
No you weren’t! You were asked what message YOU think Trump delivered to fellow Christians.
A bit of a coward aren’t you...
06 Jun 20
@tom-wolsey saidWell YOU are part of his evangelical base aren’t you?
Trump pissed a lot of people off. He also, I'm sure, fired up his evangelical base.
You voted for Trump
You’re in these forums defending Trump
You’ll vote for him next time
You’re a right wing evangelical Christian
You’re part of his evangelical Christian base.
@tom-wolsey saidSo you believe that God wanted and chose and established the authority of both Obama and Trump ~ for example ~ to be your president, as referred to in Romans 13?
Technically I think every significant event is pre-ordained by God. For His own reasons.
@rbhill saidSo who are these apostates?
God was showing you who the tears among the wheat were, the Laodicean church people, and the apostate church, by Trump holding up the Bible.
Is Trump part of this group? In what way?
