RHP Spirituality Forum: Miscellaneous
Here's a place to footnote comments you may have that would be off topic in active threads and/or wouldn't merit a thread of their own. Since 2012, I've made it a point to go to the site profiles of some contributors to access their most recent posts. Which "contributors"? Varies but includes atheists, agnostics, theists and believers in Christ. Why? Because I care about and learn from them; and respect their intellectual integrity. All of you are invited to post here, except trolls. -Bob
Originally posted by Grampy BobbyYou said you valued certain posters here because had learnt from them; surely you have learned something more profound than simply noticing what people are focused on?
Yes. The mindsets and priorities of several thoughtful people here appear to be focused on significant spiritual topics.
Originally posted by divegeesterI rather think that the entire reason for his OP is that he is a bit bent out of shape by something or other and wanted to type this: "All of you are invited to post here, except trolls." People who Grampy Bobby doesn't like should consider themselves cuffed around the ear, I suppose.

One noticeable behavior on this forum in recent years is the frequency and gratuitous use by some contributors of the vertical personal pronoun in tandem with the nicknames of other site members. First Lady Eleanor would be pleased:
"Great minds discuss ideas; Average minds discuss events; Small minds discuss people." ~Eleanor Roosevelt (1884-1962)
Originally posted by Grampy BobbyOh the irony. Aren't you discussing people here with this thread? No one starts as many whole threads just to discuss people as you do.

Ever wonder if trolls, constipated with frustration and unhappiness, perform their daily ablutions in private written correspondence and postcards with the same frequency and abandon as they they do in online public forums?
Is this a 'small mind' post according to your own terms of reference?
You can't even claim your hypocrisy is tongue-in-cheek! 😀

Irony: In this quote, people are being discussed by GB.
And adding: is this quoting Eleanor?
http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Eleanor_Roosevelt
suggests that there is no evidence that she said this.

"Quotations by Author
Eleanor Roosevelt (1884 - 1962)
US diplomat & reformer [more author details]"
http://www.quotationspage.com/quotes/Eleanor_Roosevelt
The quotation contains six nouns; one is "people". Her focus is on three categories of mindset in discussions.

Originally posted by Grampy BobbyHeaven only knows how many threads you started ~ in 2014 alone ~ with the undisguised purpose of making condescending remarks about people you don't like. You are well within your rights to do so, of course, Grampy Bobby, just as people have the right to call you out for being a clumsy hypocrite. 😀
Another observation is that there hasn't been one thread topic referencing atheism in the last ninety threads.
Originally posted by JS357"There are many published incidents of this as an anonymous proverb since at least 1948, and as a statement of Eleanor Roosevelt since at least 1992, but without any citation of an original source."

While this observation might arguably not merit a thread of its own, it's something that certainly can be made whilst remaining on-topic thread after thread after thread where incoherent or far-fetched religionist claims are being propagated.
