Tell your pastor that the devil is described by Jesus as follows :
The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one; [b]The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels. (Matthew 13:38-39 KJV)

Amazing, I thought your eyes would just pass over such text pretending not to see them.
Good on you!

So I read that passage and I see wailing and gnashing of teeth in the fire. I add nothing.
You read it and you see the words and you ADD that the pastor said it means eternal torment.

I have no intention of limiting my interpretation of your words to just one post. Robots do that. ... maybe you too. Maybe that is why you have difficulty with the bible. You cannot bring in all the information into your brain at the same time and from knowledgeable conclusions

Basically you are claiming that you are right and I am wrong. Jesus would not tolerate disagreements. So one of us will be cast out and that is me according to you.
Why ?. .. because you already have eternal life and not even God can change that, therefore the offending party must by the one who offends one of Jesus's little children.

The word annihilated is not in the Bible.
The word destroy is in the bible.
The word death is in the bible.

The teaching there shows that Christians during the church age are ON THE WAY to a kingdom with strict and high standards for unity and peace. And while they are on the way to the kingdom they need to settle offenses between them.
This was not a thread telling YOU to be NICE to ME.
It was an exposition of a teaching which warns that Christ will have as co-reigning kings only those who are in harmony. Discord and unforgiveness or uncofession He will not tolerate making the WAY a narrow way to reward.
Sometimes one side is willing to make amends and the other side is not. Fact of life.
At any rate the teaching causes me to sober up.
I don't know what effect it has on you or even if you agree.
YOU were not the object lesson of a self serving thread meant to as self aggrandizement on my part.

Many Christians do not follow Jesus Christ as we have demonstrated here They have doctrines which are alien to the teachings of Christ. They ignore critical teachings of Christ and encourage a life contrary to the commandments. They are not on their way to the Kingdom of God
How narrow is the way?
Only one person can take the path at a time. You cannot drag anyone else with you, nor can anyone drag you along with them. Someone else can show you the beginning of the path, where it starts, but it is up to you to make the passage on your own, because we are all judged on our own, no one will help us at Judgement. It is a matter of personal responsibility.

take credit for that. You need to speak to the authors of those 66 books of the Bible not
me.
The word annihilate is not in the Bible, I agree. So using it to describe the results in Hell
will require you to prove your point by speaking about the scriptures you believe it fits.
I doubt you will since there are none.
The word destroy is in the Bible, but that doesn't help you, since it also does not prove
your point about Hell either. If you believe it does I suggest you quote the scriptures
that have destroy in it and see if it actually means what you claim. I doubt you can prove
that point either. Death is in the Bible too, and so what does that have to do with this
eternal punishment? Scriptures would be nice when in discussion of doctrine, your
opinions are not getting it done. Your insults only make you look a little less than, I hope
you can continue giving side of the discussion with scripture to back up your point of view.

Biblically speaking hell is just the place of death, the place of the departed immaterial part of man = Hades or Sheol ( OT ).
I mean the scope of the word in the Bible is larger than just the place of punishment.
David the patriarch and believer died and went to Hades too.
(Acts 2:27; Psalm 16:10)
If someone told a Christian "You know Christians die and go to Hell too" most believers would think an incorrect statement has been made. Actually, I don't think it would be technically wrong.
Tradition and vanacular usage has made hell mean the place of punishment after deatth of the unredeemed.
