@badradger saidNo, it’s talking about the reality of the universe. Is this a created place, with a purpose and design, or not? Fairy stories are closer to those who think nothing could cause this, then the explanations they come up with, as they attempt to explain away all there is.
@KellyJay all this arguing over fairy stories.
@kellyjay saidWhat's your objection to the text of The Gospel of Thomas? The first line indicates that Thomas heard Jesus saying stuff and he wrote those sayings down.
If Thomas is edifying to you because it dismisses things you don't like, than I would think you are more concern about you than the text.

@kellyjay saidno one knows, or will ever know.

@kellyjay saidMost atheists don't claim to know how everything came into existence. I don't view this as a weakness. Saying 'I don't know' is a good starting point in the quest for answers.

Dealing with these difficult questions by presupposing a Divine entity is not a strength in my opinion and certainly falls in the hemisphere of fairy stories and wishful thinking. (And again, it is only you who speaks of something coming from 'nothing.' )
@badradger saidI beg to differ, when the author of the play steps on the stage the play is over so it’s been said. When God calls it all done for this life the eternal begins! Everyone will know it will be inescapable.
no one knows, or will ever know.
@ghost-of-a-duke saidNo one should care about that. You have not answered my question to you still. If you are told truth and you say you know better are you then accountable for your stance?
And if there is no author?!
@kellyjay saidHow do I know when I am told truth?

@ghost-of-a-duke saidLet me rephrase when you say you know better than what you are being shown and told do you now own your stance it is all on you?
How do I know when I am told truth?
@kellyjay saidAgain, when you or anyone shows me something by what measure am I to accept that as truth rather than opinion?
Let me rephrase when you say you know better than what you are being shown and told do you now own your stance it is all on you?
@ghost-of-a-duke saidIt is a simple question of ownership when you make a truth claim is it one you own, or do you think you should have some sort of (not my fault claim) attached to everything you claim is true?
Again, when you or anyone shows me something by what measure am I to accept that as truth rather than opinion?
@kellyjay saidYour "truth claims" in these matters are just your personal opinions. Surely everybody "owns" their personal opinions?

@ghost-of-a-duke saidIt would be a good starting point if they held to that belief consistently. The area of weakness I see is that even though they honestly say they don't know, they don't at all have issue one saying God didn't do it. They see the hole, cannot fill in the blanks and reject out of hand an explanation with no idea how it was done!
