Jesus Christ has assured certain people of their salvation. I offer no interpretation or analysis, just a couple quotes, and there are dozens more like them :
And being made perfect, he [Jesus Christ] became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him; (Hebrews 5:9 KJV)
Q : Who gets eternal salvation from Christ ?
A : Those who OBEY Christ
Q : So what about the Christians who profess their faith, who have the Holy Spirit, who do miracles and believe in Christ? Do they have the assurance of eternal salvation? Jesus answers that here:
Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it. (Matthew 7:21-27 KJV)
A : Not all those professing faith get eternal life. Some are cast out because they are workers of iniquity. The ones who get it are the wise ones who hears Christ and doeth the commandments. The ones who do not get it are the foolish ones who do not follow the commandments
It is a warning from Christ not to get involved with Christian groups who promote mouth worship, which is the road to damnation.
Every single one of the Apostles warned against this Satanic doctrine which teaches that faith alone is required for eternal life. James said faith without works is dead. Can faith save a man? NO!. Paul said there is no inheritance in the Kingdom of God without good works and righteousness. Peter said if you turn away from the commandments of Christ, there is no hope for you. So did John and Jude.
Beware of the wolves that teach the doctrines of Satan.
@rajk999 saidWhat Jesus did on the cross to procure eternal life for you He did without any help from you.

It's the doctrine of the devil that says you have to do good works to earn salvation.
@secondson saidDo you believe that "what Jesus did on the cross to procure eternal life for you" means Jesus does not require you to do 'good works'?
What Jesus did on the cross to procure eternal life for you He did without any help from you.
@secondson saidOf course, it could be the doctrine of the devil that says you 'don't' have to do good works to earn salvation.
What Jesus did on the cross to procure eternal life for you He did without any help from you.
It's the doctrine of the devil that says you have to do good works to earn salvation.
@secondson saidThe answer to your question can be found by reading in its entirety one of Paul's letter to the churches. Paul says:
What Jesus did on the cross to procure eternal life for you He did without any help from you.
It's the doctrine of the devil that says you have to do good works to earn salvation.
1. Profess faith in Christ
2. Become baptized into Christ
3. Receive the Holy Spirit
4. Christians are then saved
5. Continue to live righteously and do good works.
Paul was crystal clear that failure to do #5 would lead to no inheritance in the kingdom of God.
If your doctrine omits #5 then you need to examine yourself before it's too late.
@ghost-of-a-duke saidYou are mistaken sir. It is biblical doctrine that states you 'can't' do good works to earn salvation.
Of course, it could be the doctrine of the devil that says you 'don't' have to do good works to earn salvation.
It is biblical doctrine that says you cannot earn salvation.
And simple logic. It's like saying one can make muddy water pure by pouring muddy water into it.
The gospel is most simple. Jesus did the work. We, as sinners, receive eternal life by faith in the substitutionary death of Jesus on the cross, who died for our sins and iniquities.
Seeking to gain something from God by works, who has no need of anything from us, for salvation, is religion.
Could it be any clearer?
@rajk999 saidSo then, do you think that when one does the first four, but then fails at #5, and commits a sin, loses their salvation and goes to hell?

@secondson saidSure, but bearing in mind the inconsistencies and corruptions in the bible, is any of it to be trusted.

@secondson saidI dont know that, and neither do you. Your church doctrine makes these judgment calls about who is and who is not going to be in the Kingdom of God and who is going to hell, when these are in fact unknown [there are exceptions], to us and it is for Christ to judge at the appointed time.
So then, do you think that when one does the first four, but then fails at #5, and commits a sin, loses their salvation and goes to hell?
Christ and all the Apostles did make this or similar statements
Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. (Galatians 5:19-21 KJV)
What is clear is that all who do good works and live righteously will inherit the Kingdom of God. Jesus will make that call.
Your doctrine is a mess.
@ghost-of-a-duke saidIs God fallible? If the God of the Bible can create a universe, and knows everything simultaneously, why can't He produce a book of His words and preserve it through time?
Sure, but bearing in mind the inconsistencies and corruptions in the bible, is any of it to be trusted.
It would have to be so. Or there is no God. Logic.
@secondson saidPerhaps the God who created the universe isn't the God of the Bible.

Perhaps the actual God requires you to do good works.

But you seem to know everything else.
1 John 1:8-10
¶ If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
Your doctrine of salvation by works is of the devil.
@ghost-of-a-duke saidDo you have that in writing?
Perhaps the God who created the universe isn't the God of the Bible.
Perhaps the actual God requires you to do good works.
The Bible says that Jesus rose from the dead.
That's the crux of it. Take it on faith and be born again. If it's not true, then it's the biggest lie ever told.
@secondson saidJames to the rescue:
Your doctrine of salvation by works is of the devil.
'Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.'
