I think it was the Skipper who started a thread on here that asked just how the book that the "Christians" call the Bible actually came to be written, when, and by who.
I know a little about how the dogma began and how the OT and Paul got included. Actually, I consider it a bad turning point in Christianity. About 400 a.d.

now, just apply that to the leaders of the israelites and you can see what's wrong with saying "all scripture is inspired by god" ,, or revealed or whatever else is used to justify wholesale slaughter of the canaanites.
Scripture is written for several reasons, some times God gives us
insight into life, into God Himself, into whatever. Some times that
insight is how bad we are and at times God's judgments comes
along with that insight. Other times our own judgments are part
of the scripture are written about, because of how bad we are. It
is a fact of life, we kill each other for various reasons, some
justified others not so much. If God says it is over for any of us,
individually or as a nation it is His call for His reasons. Who are
we to say the Creator of everything does not have the right or the
ability to judge correctly and carry out His will?

Very unflattering, you have a point to the insult or was that your
only reason for posting?

I'd love to get a team of crackerjack reporters to answer the question "How was the Bible written?"
I doubt that the Vatican would be too interested ...

The point was ANYBODY could claim that they are killing in God's name, like the ancient Israelites did. Why do you believe them but not Al-Qaeda?

didnt intend an insult, just a the comparison between two very similar understandings of the OT the moral authority of God becomes the tool of the state under those and similar ideas.

I was under the impression scripture was becoming the topic and
why it was being written. I agree anyone can claim God told me too.
God will deal with them, and at times we will will have too as well.

I thought the question was "Who wrote Scripture? How did the book we call the Bible come to be?"

That's all true , but not every murderous leader that claims to be doing God's work show up as a hero in the Bible. Read Joshua and you will know what I mean. Pay close attention to what god tells Joshua to do to Ai . At least that's what Joshua said god told him to do.
