Maybe another liberal American Christian will have the courage of their convictions and answer the on-topic question.

When you find another one, let me know, would you?

More Jesus-blaming.
Aren't you even a little bit ashamed of yourself?
Who is the one who gets to decide the destination of all people? If people do not inherit eternal life it will be Jesus who makes that decision.
You are too busy putting your head in the ground to deal with that.
Jesus speaking in Luke's Gospel.
"And all the crowd sought to touch Him, because power was going out from Him and healing all.
And He lifted up His eyes to His disciples and said, Blessed are the poor, for yours is the kingdom of God.
Blessed are those who hunger now, for you shall be satisfied.
Blessed are those who weep now, for you shall laugh.
Blessed are you when men hate you and when they separate you from them and reproach you and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of Man's sake.
Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, for behold, your reward is great in heaven; for so their father's did to the prophets.
Woe to you who are satisfied now, for you shall hunger.
Woe to you who are laughing now, for you shall mourn and weep.
Woe to you when all men speak well of you, for so their fathers did to the false prophets.
But to you who hear I say, Love your enemies, do well to those who hate you. Bless those who curse you; pray for those who revile you."
etc. etc. (See Luke 6:17-49)
Eader, is the Gospel of Luke too liberal for you ?
To put things in perspective:
Jesus unambiguously preached mercy and forgiveness. These are supposed to be cardinal virtues of the Christian faith. And yet Evangelicals are the most supportive of the death penalty, draconian sentencing, punitive punishment over rehabilitation, and the governmental use of torture.
Jesus exhorted humans to be loving, peaceful, and non-violent. And yet Evangelicals are the group of Americans most supportive of easy-access weaponry, little-to-no regulation of handgun and semi-automatic gun ownership, not to mention the violent military invasion of various countries around the world.
Jesus was very clear that the pursuit of wealth was inimical to the Kingdom of God, that the rich are to be condemned, and that to be a follower of Him means to give one’s money to the poor. And yet Evangelicals are the most supportive of corporate greed and capitalistic excess, and they are the most opposed to institutional help for the nation’s poor — especially poor children... They despise food stamp programs, subsidies for schools, hospitals, job training — anything that might dare to help out those in need.

NOTE: To put the above more squarely on topic, the above should be read by replacing "Evangelicals" with "the Christian right" or "conservative Christians".
To put the focus on things such as homosexuality and abortion - two topics of which Jesus did not speak - is not only to miss the point -. it is done to deflect from the point.
The Christian right do this to deflect from the fact that many of their beliefs are diametrically opposed to that which Jesus did speak - and often most emphatically.
The Christian right do this to deflect from the fact that they have largely abandoned the gospel preached by Jesus during His ministry.

You are like another dog in his owner's house who sees one dog get punished for doing something wrong and so you run over and bite that dog in the leg, thinking to curry favor with the owner. This only results in punishment for you, too.

Too "left wing" for you Elader ?
Is the epistle of James too liberal for your taste ?
"Listen, my beloved brothers: Did not God choose the poor in the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom, which He promised to those who love Him?
But you have dishonored the poor. Is it not the rich who oppress you and is it not they who drag you into courts?
Is it not they who blaspheme the honorable name by which you are called? " (James 2:5-7)
is this too liberal sounding for your congregation ??
