@kellyjay saidOK, I'll tell you what. I did watch it and I think it's an interesting topic. And I think it was a good video for you to propose that people watch. However, I was a bit underwhelmed by it and, although I had started to jot down some words to help me compose a response, in the end, I had only written "optimism", "good works" and "dignity-based cultures", so I lost my steam somewhat and the moment passed.
It is possible; I have posted here before I cannot find the one I did post, only an audio version of it.
Edit: No, this was the one you shared:

Several of the Christians in this forum clearly think they are being persecuted by the challenges they get.
Sonship is class example with threads like Thread 192393 revealing his pious sense of righteous indignation as he absolves those who have persecuted him. Galveston75 is another who loves to take some lashes for Jehovah.
But as BiggDog points ou ...[text shortened]... ually dishonest, evasive, stubborn regurgitator of dogma is NOT a valid reason to cry “persecution!”
There is always more than one side to anything involving people, someone who is so thin-skinned everything is an insult to them or people who like making others feel that way, so they also accuse them of playing the victim card when they complain about it, then we have all places between.
If anyone feels that way in a business setting, the one making another feel that way is creating a hostile work environment and could be terminated.
@fmf saidBecause this guy travels the world, he sometimes gives the same talk, and I think you are correct; it is the same but different setting. I thought he hits the points nicely. I prefer the version you reposted over mine since mine is only audio, so thank you.

@fmf saidDid you listen to the whole thing? What more than likely happened, you listened to another thing I posted that did talk about those things, and you think this is that it isn't. The main points of that talk weren't optimism or good works; its focus was on hurts and grievousness that allowing ourselves to be defined by the wrong done to us is harmful not only to us but also can affect the whole world.

@kellyjay saidAnd it was quite good. I just think it is a well-trodden theme. I stopped jotting things down. There was no jump-out-at-me line he said for me to latch on to. Yes, identity politics and grievance-mongering can often be negative things. I think cyberspace has a lot to answer for.

I just watched the video and I thought it was good. However, I feel his focus was more about having love for all others. If you don't have it, everything you do is basically worthless to God, and everyone else, even if one does good works etc. The narrator explained that he thinks that "hurts and grievousness" are what causes lack of love in people for others. Clearly that's the answer for some, but I don't believe that's the whole answer for everyone who has no love for others. I believe there are other factors.
Good educational video, and thank you. It reminds me of how far I have to go; and that, I've only hit the tip of the iceberg in my own journey with God.
Here's the Scriptures he was teaching from:
[1st Corinthians 13:1-8 NKJV] 1 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. 2 And though I have [the gift of] prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed [the poor], and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing. 4 Love suffers long [and] is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; 5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; 6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 8 Love never fails.

@kingdavid403 saidI agree that if our motivation is the love for others, even the wrongs can be flipped, which is not denying the injustice of anything.

@kellyjay saidIt sounds much easier than it actually is; for me anyway. Especially, when someone harms or does evil to someone on purpose, without a cause.

@kellyjay saidWhere to start!

Firstly, “they” are being persecuted. This is a debate forum and some religionists get there ears boxed for being unprincipled, casually dishonest, pious or self righteous in debate. It’s NOT persecution.
Secondly, FMF isn't “thinned-skinned “ because he’s started a thread calling out those who play the victim card. And no is anyone else who does the same.
Thirdly, what on Earth has a business meeting and the dynamics of the interpersonal relationships got to do with with what does on in this forum? Nothing!

@kellyjay saidYou are only thin-skinned part of the time, KellyJay and you only play the victim card sometimes, not all the time.

@fmf saidPossible, but that can be true of all of us, as it could also be true when we are talking about a topic, we suddenly find ourselves the topic, and when we complain, we are accused of being thin-skinned. Even here right now, are you talking about me or the topic?
You are only thin-skinned part of the time, KellyJay and you only play the victim card sometimes, not all the time.
