Many of the fruits would seem to be the opposite of what we normally think of as passion.
And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

Many of the Orthodox prayers are based in the Bible,or a series of places in the Bible, or are based on the words of Saints.

Evolutionally, this type of "dead" person gets selected out. 😛
From this standpoint, you are dead wrong; erotic passion literally enlivened all of us.
Those types of Puritan attitudes are overcompensation caused by regret at the occasional losses of control. It is cutting off the leg because you kicked someone with it once, not caring that without it, you can no longer walk.
Also, do you think that we live in an era of too little passion?
We literally have youth going impotent from pornography.
Thr overwhelming majority of people must cut their passions, not follow them.
Funny idea about the leg, though. I LOLd.

What are some passions that are not sinful, in your view?
Originally posted by @dj2beckerI could argue this point with you, especially about sport, but I can’t be bothered.

Originally posted by @divegeesterI would agree that any passion that is mentioned in the Bible as clearly sinful is wrong, but I'm not sure that you can make a general rule and say that someone that has a passion for rugby or playing football is sinning when they enjoy playing those sports.

Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

If you are in Christ there is nothing between you and Him except what you allow.
