The post that was quoted here has been removedDing? He is an ok snooker player. His record in the WC is relatively poor (one beaten finalist, 2 x beaten semi finalist) over many years.
Sure, he throws himself into these 'ranking events' (general tournaments played through the year) The brilliant Ronnie O'Sullivan shuns many. It is the World Championship that defines a snooker player's career.
He certainly doesn't stand comparison with English players of Ding's generation (one of whom may be Mark Selby, who has beaten Ding in the last 2 WC tournaments) and Ronnie O'Sullivan, also a nemesis of Ding.
Snooker? May not be the most 'athletic' sport, but most top players now have athletic builds. Young Ding packs a few extra pounds that he could well do with losing.
You mention. Chinese snooker playerS exceeding expectation. Do you have any other bits of wiki you can quote to highlight THEIR dazzling careers?
Can D64 point us/me to where I stated or even insinuated that table tennis players were not excellent athletes? If she does reply to this post, could I ask that she addresses that question? Thanks
The post that was quoted here has been removedYOUR definition of 'OK' is totally irrelevant.
I think Ding is 'above average'. That is my definition of 'OK'
He may well be ranked number 4 in the world now, and been ranked number one in 2011, but the snooker rankings system is flawed. Basically, players who play ALL tournaments gain more points. Ronnie O'Sullivan , who was undoutably World number 1 in 2011, shuns these.
D64 is relying too much on wiki, and looking foolish.
However, wiki up Ding's WC performances, and these other 'above expectation' Chinese snooker players.
Good luck with those two!
It is clear even to a casual reader that snooker is a sport on which D64 is totally ignorant, without the help of wiki.
