Out of interest, being a lowly rated player and therefore not able to answer this question:

Does being seeded top of your group - like your goodself - create additional stress, or just provide a sense of confidence?

Coupled with this, would the top seed normally try to blitz the lower rated players swiftly out the way and focus on the two or three players closest to them in rankings?

group 99: 2309, 2154 and a former champion
group 100: 2142 and 2070
Looks like group 99 is the toughest...
Unbelievable: the highest rated player, the two times former champion and a 2100 all in one group.
Even more so since there are groups where 1800 is the highest rating

Agree, group 99 looks by far the toughest. Even the "bench" has strong players. As a different comparison, look at the average section ratings:

group 38: 1594
group 68: 1636
group 87: 1578
group 99: 1863
group 100: 1461

The joys of random pairings 😉

With "a 2100" I obviously mean no disrespect to cesrex.

It adds some stress, but some stress is also taken off because you don't have to take down anyone rated higher than you. Personally, I usually tend to blitz no matter what, but I slow down for special events, like this tournament or leagues. No matter what, though, you have to be careful. Getting to the second round is rare, so when you actually get a chance, you can't lose it.

Group 48 - Highest Rated Player = Antoine (1446). One or two players in Group 99 will be very envious.

Yes, I have also seen a group with an average rating of 1100

Group 23 or 24 I think.
