Group 23 or 24 I think.
Group 23. But that average has been dragged down almost singlehandedly by doggoalie (592). Still, I'd rather be in that group than my lovely Group 78.

actually there are 909 participants. That means either 4 rounds or more than 9 per group per round.
Question for Russ: do you expect a round #4 or 13 or so player in the final 3rd round?

For pure entertainment value, I'll add this: Game 4448443

But I've not seen any real upsets yet. They'll come though.

I won't be one of them with 2 1800's & 1 1900 in my group.
I played the Grob as white in all my games.

Not really an upset - DesertRat is a new player with a 10 win no loss game history - so probably his rating is unrepresentative of his true level.

Group 13 appears to be going to plan so far - sadly!

I thought that, for anybody who has had their head under a rock for the last few weeks, it would be a good idea to post the link to the tournament itself.

How about doing it like major OTB tournaments, with an open section and then the "class" sections? Then we would have an "open" champion as well as the banded champions?

It has been suggested, but it makes the tournament less exciting as the 'open' section would only have a handul of players entering.

Well in fact we would have the old sandbagging discussion again...

And there are a lot of people who like to play players several hundred rating points over their level.
