A collection of Edith Piaf songs. More caberet of course but it feeds the jazz side of me.

Personal Mountains - Keith Jarrett (and Jan Garbarek et al.) This CD is surely one for the time capsule (...ooh there's a thread idea).

And then the rougher (but equally interesting, and recorded a day or two later or earlier) Nude Ants - Keith Jarrett (and Jan Garbarek et al.)

John Coltrane - Intersteller Space

What a trip from 1965. just Coltrane and a drummer. Not for the feint of heart.

If you haven't heard it, you should check out the Gregg Bendian / Nels Cline album. It's interesting to play them one after the other.

I found footage of them playing "Leo" which is in two parts.

Bendian has ridiculously great hands which you can get some sense of on this video.

The Five Peace band with Chick Corea, John Mclaughlin, Christian Mcbride, Kenny Garrett and Vinnie Calaiiuta. Quite a powerhouse. And thankfully is far more than simply Return to Forever meets Majavishnu. this band created anew, and impressively.
