I've been listening to every note played by Phish on their "Late Summer 2009 Tour ". Many of their improvisations and interplays arguably draw upon the jazz tradition - especially, of course, jazz fusion.

It has also made me go back and dip into my collection of recordings from their 2003-2004 tours where (especially in 2003) the improvisations were often enormous and intensely exploratory.

I haven't given a listen really to Phish. I have heard a solo recording by their lead vocalist and frankly wasn't overwhelmed.
