@Suzianne saidFact. A builder buys 20 acres builds 40 houses. He (it is his land) decides to record rules to go buy if you want to live in one of his houses. You read them IN ADVANCE before making that decision.
Most HOAs are conservative in nature.
Little kings and queens lording it over their own homemade little kingdoms.
Getting everyone to 'toe the line'. Or else.
If you live there, you have agreed to comply. If you don't like the 'rules', you go somewhere else.
So, Sue, follow me here, if you do go somewhere else, leaving that location to those who happily agreed to live there, why do you even comment on their llives in that subdivision, or get angst about it?
WHY, oh WHY do libs get so upset about what other people are doing, little girl? WHy? Why about how much money people have? Why anything?

@AverageJoe1 saidBecause they support Donald Trump.
But a fact is a fact. Are you sayiing they are not reporting facts?
Can you show us one fact that they have reported that is not a fact? In the hell going on, why would they have to make anything up?

@AverageJoe1 saidSo you can control the people around you.
You are from Mars? No one likes HOA to keep everything orderly? What if a blatant loud racist lives next door, zero lot lines, and I hang my Black Live Matter flag. Big fight? Maybe , or maybe just hate fuming. Then his flag comes up, of some really hateful stuff, the feud boils over, people take sides, we all get scared so go buy some guns, one for each family m ...[text shortened]... sue me, maybe win, and lives are ruined.
I like covenenants myself, so losers don't run amok.
Tell the truth.

@Suzianne saidTruth would be for you to tell us how it is better to live in a society where anyone can do anything they want to do, sort of like Lord of the flies. Or maybe a more orderly community with certain standards to live by. Is there any way that you can possibly write a comment on this concept? A sense of order, or, no order. Howling dogs in a kennel. Is that OK?
So you can control the people around you.
Tell the truth.

@AverageJoe1 saidAs long as YOU are the one giving the orders, yeah?

@Suzianne saidBy “you’ you are referring to the person who bought the 20 acres and built 40 homes? Well, yes, he did set the parameters. No one is forced to live there. I would want the rules, u would not. I simply ask why u would not want an orderly subdivision. I hope you are not mad at me.
As long as YOU are the one giving the orders, yeah?
The USA has rules. Would you rather we not have rules, not have our government “giving the orders”?
Two diff entities, same concept, for peace.

@AverageJoe1 saidHOA bylaws are vague and subjective, rarely enforceable with legal action. In effect, they create a hassle -an extra bureaucracy - that forces everyone in the neighborhood to wrestle with..
I think HOA is telllin you what you cannot do. And if you dont mow your lawn, it will be the health dept that pays you a visit.
So, you REALLY don't think there should be guidelines for existing in close quarters with people you don't know? Did you see above, a racist moves in and hangs a flag that Blacks are Bad People, somethign like that? YOu really would live ...[text shortened]... .
Will you not be disingenuous for once in your forum life and tell me what you reallly think?
Freedom. Hmm. The HOA agreement you signed up for is totally dependent on who your neighbors are. Sound ordinance? Maybe you have a neighbor with overly keen hearing and a litigious tendency. You're not able to have a phone conversation in your own backyard, much less host a dinner party.
The shingles thing? It depends who is running the HOA, whether they want to allow votes to restrict your choices in roof color. Maybe you've owned the property 30 years, forced to change your shrubbery or go to court
Disasters, these HOAs. Unbelievable that you're defending the castration of property rights.
@AverageJoe1 saidNo. By "you" I am referring to, well, you.
