Fact. A builder buys 20 acres builds 40 houses. He (it is his land) decides to record rules to go buy if you want to live in one of his houses. You read them IN ADVANCE before making that decision.
If you live there, you have agreed to comply. If you don't like the 'rules', you go somewhere else.
So, Sue, follow me here, if you do go somewhere else, leaving that location to those who happily agreed to live there, why do you even comment on their llives in that subdivision, or get angst about it?

Truth would be for you to tell us how it is better to live in a society where anyone can do anything they want to do, sort of like Lord of the flies. Or maybe a more orderly community with certain standards to live by. Is there any way that you can possibly write a comment on this concept? A sense of order, or, no order. Howling dogs in a kennel. Is that OK?

By “you’ you are referring to the person who bought the 20 acres and built 40 homes? Well, yes, he did set the parameters. No one is forced to live there. I would want the rules, u would not. I simply ask why u would not want an orderly subdivision. I hope you are not mad at me.

HOA bylaws are vague and subjective, rarely enforceable with legal action. In effect, they create a hassle -an extra bureaucracy - that forces everyone in the neighborhood to wrestle with..

Freedom. Hmm. The HOA agreement you signed up for is totally dependent on who your neighbors are. Sound ordinance? Maybe you have a neighbor with overly keen hearing and a litigious tendency. You're not able to have a phone conversation in your own backyard, much less host a dinner party.

The shingles thing? It depends who is running the HOA, whether they want to allow votes to restrict your choices in roof color. Maybe you've owned the property 30 years, forced to change your shrubbery or go to court
