Gun owning is a right that has been in place since the country's foundation.
So what?

Should we outlaw single parents and divorce if there is a strong correlation between
broken families and murder? Would a law fix anything?
Guns are conceived designed and made for killing.
Marriages are not.

It might be your trademark posting style but don’t be so ludicrously obtuse over a matter of the murder of hundreds of innocent children every year.

86 percent of mass shootings have been with legally obtained firearms.
The weapon of choice when someone murders, what is it, and how does it
compare to guns by the numbers?

A partisan-political minded approach of President Biden tonight. The actual policies he listed tonight in his gun speech are troubling, maybe impeachable. It may be comforting for simple-minded people to think that restricting the natural right to own, keep and bear arms would solve our problems....that to destroy the Constitution would solve our problems. That is not true, We have a natural right to self-defense, and to guard against tyranny,....the 2nd amendment is something that makes us Americans. Biden showed tonight that he does not respect the Constitution. He does not support the natural right to arms. That, good friends, is impeachable. Of course if you some you live in Norway, you don't see any problem. Brrrrrrr

As has been pointed out, you completely misrepresent what the second amendement actually states.

Besides this, there’s the fact it was written 300 years ago and needs updating.

Besides this, as has been pointed out multiple times as well, every argument you pro-gun people make is completely debunked by looking at the rest of the world.
For example: trans rights leads to gun violence (MJT - US politician). It doesn’t in Europe. Or Australia. Or anywhere else. What’s the difference? Guns.

And your love of guns is rather unsettling. It’s a fetish. One can only imagine your hand, a sock, some gun oil and AK-47 propped up against a wall as you sweat and moan your way through life.

As it turns out, ALL the school shooters were 18 or so and law abiding citizens so what now? Also, when the country was founded, the only thing we could shoot was flintlocks, taking a minute or so to reload, not easy to do a mass shooting back then was it.

In ancient times, they had bow and arrow, axes, spears, knives, bolos and the like, the only way for mass murder was for there to be masses of murderers.

If the country had been founded when AR15's were available they would have been a LOT harsher with the idea of owning weapons.

Tell me why you think it is ok for ordinary citizens to own military weapons that can fire hundreds of rounds a minute? They are such poor shots they need such weapons to kill a deer in hunting season?

You and I both know they get those weapons BECAUSE they can fire hundreds of rounds a minute because they want to be ready for the next civil war or they are in a street gang.

My father was killed by a gun in a robbery, my step father shot and my mother shot in the same robbery.

The statistics don't lie. When assault rifles were banned in other countries, gun violence went down 90%. That is a fact.

It is not criminals with guns doing the killing, it is supposedly law abiding citizens who are just hiding their hate, biding their time like that dude who just bought a rifle with the express purpose of killing his doctor.

He was law abiding too, till the time when he started killing people before he was killed. Even at that 4 people are dead and the cops got there within a couple of minutes in that mall.

Tell me how many people could he have killed with a single shot 22?

Even pistols now can hold 30 or more rounds and you really need that big an ammo load to protect your house?
You probably heard the statistics now on child deaths, the biggest on the list is gun violence against children whether from drive by shootings where the kid is killed accidentally, which is a stretch because those gangsters know full well innocents get killed and ALL the school shootings were done by teenage kids buying AR 15's when they turned 18.
So even just upping the age of legal gun buy to 21 would have stopped ALL the murders they perpetrated.
And now we have AASSSHOLES like Ted Cruz saying 'yes, we need more mental health workers, that would stop all those killings, WE NEED OUR AR15's we have FREEDOM.
And let me reiterate, NOBODY is calling for a ban on guns and you know it.
We are calling for a ban on ASSAULT rifles belonging to the military.

We see action movies where Shwartznegger is firing a 50 mm gatling gun with a long stream of ammo and we go, I WANT ONE OF THOSE so I can protect my family.
Action movies romanticize the idea of having big guns shooting hundreds of rounds and what for? Tell me why ANYONE needs such weapons.

Tell me why 18 year olds can buy them, WHY when we know their brains aren't even fully developed. Tell me what is wrong with upping that age to 21?
Or why there are states banning red flag laws where a cop sees a nutter on the street waving an AR15 and he can't even legally take that weapon away from him, all he can do is kill the dude, which just means that much more killing. If all the states had red flag laws at least the potential shooter would be stopped before he can do harm.
So what is wrong with at least a 3 day waiting period to get a gun?
That dude who shot his doctor picked up the gun an hour before he started shooting.
3 day waiting period would have maybe had him think, maybe this wasn't such a good idea to off my doctor.

We can draw all kinds of comparisons, and I'm sorry about the tragedy you have
gone through, the things that happen near where I live are also tragic, but to
lash out at the guns is not going to solve anything; it is missing the root cause of
the issue altogether. Weapons are dangerous; hand picking a couple out of the
the mix isn't going to change anything when it comes to what people are capable
of doing when they hate are greedy who care nothing for life.

If we spend all of our time going after the weapons and ignoring the real issue,
the hate and greed people have, nothing will change. People were slaughtered
when all weapons were swords, knives, bows, and arrows.

Hunting is not a criterion for owning weapons, nor which ones the military
uses. With an unarmed population, many people can be killed with a
single shot 22, and any gun can be reloaded and fired repeatedly. Do you
think people who get shot with a gun and die are any more dead than they
are when they are stabbed or beaten to death?

I agree that all the changes you suggest would be helpful to reduce death. But it wont end the killings. So, we do the changes and hope and pray for the best. There is zero chance that we wont keep guns. Any further discussions would make no difference to the unfortunate folks who are going die by gunshot. Then, we should resolve other issues, like inflation and gas prices, which could be resolved if President Biden would simply open up use of fossil fuels. They are the blood of this country. Also, you and Biden ignore the over 100,000 people who died of drug overdose this year all because of the border policies which have allowed these drugs in. The unseen Covid. Biden is decriminalizing drugs. So, a few thousand a year are gun-slaughtered, but many more are drug-slaughtered. Which issue is more important??

@AverageJoe1. I think y'all are too focused on the gun itself. The problem is the person. If guns did not exist, a seemingly nice school teacher, or a janitor in a school, could pick up a hammer, walk into a class room, lock door securely, and do his work. So rail on about the guns, but thr PERSON can easily kill if he wants to.
Off subject Biden has taken more vacation than all presidents in history. Too old for the job? Trump LOVED being president. Biden likes to go to Delaware.

Again. It doesn’t generally happen outside America. And Europe is full of hammers.

It’s the gun in the equation. Stop dreaming up non-excuses.

Good one. Something to chew on. But as a gun and a hammer are weapons, it still leads to the real problem,,,,the person. Maybe people are crazier here the way things seem to be going south,. Are we also the most prolific with murders, I do not know.
