Probably it is to do with the name. 🙂
I have an Indian name (and half Indian). When phoning Orange, I got through to a call centre in India. The woman at the other end was more than happy to have a chit-chat (she even initiated it). Asking where I was from etc.

Hey buddy, Shilpa isn't the only innocent party in this, she's an
arrogant, self-pitying snob who needs some kind of kicking
to put her into touch.
If she was white I would expect her to get exactly the same kind
of treatment, only difference is she's making it worse for herself
by playing the race card.
Originally posted by Thequ1ckLet me explain this in term that maybe you can understand. I work in the city of London, its a very "lad culture", I have been called "Paki" many times...I have not taken offence as the "intent" of the comments was not racist (more over, they are just being Essex lads), in turn I call them Redneck for example.
What if Jade simply doesn't like the girl which is more than
conceivable given the fact she comes from a working-class
background that doesn't like being talked down to.
Who's doing the bullying then?
Isn't it just as much racial harrassment to cry 'racist' when
someone pulls you up short?
In the programme, their intent comes across as racist, so while we have never heard such comments (ie Paki), the way they treat and act with her is very bad.
What you fail to also point out, is that she (Shilpa) is getting this from other people also. For example in one section of the programme Jack Tweedy called Shilpa a "Paki" in bed while with Jade and it was bleepout of the programme. If you check youtube, you can clearly lip read and hear him close the words with an "ee" sound, yet Channel 4 bleeped it.
So, whilst I am not a fan of Shilpa, it does not seem right that she is being treated in this manner. Its not just my view on this, the TV regulator as had a record 27,000 complaints about this.

there are a lot of grown ups here.
To my knowledge Jade (as she seems to be the one on trial here)
has not made any remarks to Shilpa that are directly related to
her culture. She just doesn't like her and you know what?
she's doesn't have to.
It's emotional blackmail and bullying to resort to calling her a racist
when she is simply reacting to a little princess on a powertrip.

Have you never been to Agenda or Abacus for example ?
Also, as I mentioned its not just Jade, its the others too, the point that I was trying to raise to you is that its about intent. Their intent (as on the 3 girls and Wannabe Jack)
As for teh reaction, its a over reaction that creats a negative image for the whole of the UK from her ignorance and bigoted point off view
There seems to be a basic misunderstanding about racism among some people. If I happen to dislike someone who is Indian, that's fine; if I criticise the personality or behaviour of someone who happens to be Indian, that's fine too.
But if that dislike or criticism is based on race, or a racial stereotype, then I'm not just implicating that person. I'm implicating an entire race/nation. And that's wrong.
Similarly it would indeed be wrong to say something like "blondes are stupid", although the scale of offense is lower because the potential harm is lower.
I'm not really watching BB, but some of the things that are reported to have been said (regarding cooking, accents, cleanliness, etc.) are clearly racist, and therefore wrong.

Oh come on!
Sub-human is not a term exclusively used by the Nazis for Jews.
Over reaction here.
