@shavixmir saidThey are “fleeing for their lives” … from France?
And if you’re fleeing for your life, try, try again. Surely.
Gosh, what an awful place.
@divegeester saidSo no valid points other than the EU and its constituent nations should force migrants heading for the UK to become citizens of their countries.
I’ve made loads of valid points; you are just choosing to ignore them.
Why are you calling these people “small boat migrants”? They are illegal immigrants from France who like the rest of the EU have clearly rejected them. And I thought the EU was going to welcome immigrants!
They come from France, not a war torn country!
They are either EU citizens, or they are ...[text shortened]... EU is a far less attractive settlement option than this post Brexit apocalypse.
Which is it Kev?
Maybe if you ask them nicely they will pay our energy bills for us too.
DUH I’m calling them ‘small boat migrants’ because that’s who you are referring to when you disingenuously call them EU citizens and some of them are fleeing war torn countries and despotic regimes plus even a lot of economic migrants are fleeing the dangers of being poor in some countries with little or no healthcare and the possibility of starvation or at least malnutrition in regard to their children.
But no dive do use it as a stick in your head to beat the nasty old EU up with. It must grind your gears seeing how well Sunak and Macron are getting and what with Sunak and Von de Leyen getting a probable solution to the protocol who will the Tory party demonise at the next election 🤷🏻♂️ it’s not looking good for the forever Brexit types is it.

@divegeester saidDon’t be obnoxious.

Immigration authorities in France decided they wouldn’t get asylum. Or the refugees were planning to go to Britain all along.
Nobody flees baguettes and escargot.

@shavixmir saidDo you ever read your own posts?
Don’t be obnoxious.
When it comes to sheer obnoxiousness, some of your posts are the most foul I’ve ever seen in this forum.
@shavixmir saidIf the EU (France is a leading member of the EU, right.?) decided not to give these people asylum, then why should the UK?
Immigration authorities in France decided they wouldn’t get asylum. Or the refugees were planning to go to Britain all along.
Once they entered the EU they ceased to be refugees, they are now illegal immigrants who are fleeing the EU.
My question remains: why didn’t the EU offer them asylum and make them citizens?
@divegeester saidIt's a non-question posed from a false assumption.

The UK is not the EU. Therefore anybody can ask for asylum. It has to be judged. Such is international law.
That France, Russia, the US or Australia have decided X, doesn't make a difference.
They are not fleeing the EU. They are leaving the EU.
@divegeester saidHey liar you haven’t asked one single question. Try asking an actual question dive, if it’s even loosely based in reality and not some dog poo that dropped off the leather brogues of Mr Mogg the refugee from Victorian England.
Dodge [of every question I’ve asked in this thread] noted.
Because dive is too slimy and cowardly to say what he means, let me translate:
Dive is saying that if the UK were not better than the EU refugees would all go to the EU and would leave Britain alone. Therefore the refugee problem in the UK is evidence of EU inferiority.
But he’s too much of a weasel to say what he means explicitly.

My use of “fleeing” is a nod to those claiming these EU rejects are “fleeing” war torn countries. They aren’t they are… err… “leaving” the wonderful welcoming EU to seek asylum in a better country, the UK. Or more specifically, England 🏴 😊
@kevcvs57 saidMaybe actually read my OP or some of my other posts with lots of questions.

These people are rejected by the EU and are queuing up to get into the UK.
Hey here’s another question … why is that?

@athousandyoung saidThe EU is a broken hypocrisy. These poor souls trying to leave it are evidence of that.

They’ve either travelled through the EU countries and been rejected by the countries they passed through … or they just see the UK as a better place to settle than those EU counties.
Which is it?
Hey Kevin, there’s another question for you to pretend I haven’t asked 🤭

@athousandyoung saidFirst part correct, second part obfuscation.
Dive is also saying that if the EU won’t take these people why should the UK?
And if there are already a lot of refugees in the EU, then that shows EU inferiority again…because it should be assumed those refugees are the EU’s fault somehow.
