@vivify said"This isn't really a conflict between Palestine and Israel, it's between one specific faction and Israel. When I say this, I'm referring specifically to rocket attacks."
I think I've changed my stance on something. I've previously said that Israel was completely justified in it's retaliation (within limits).
However: given that the Palestinian government is controlled by a terrorist organization, I have to back down from that statement. This isn't really a conflict between Palestine and Israel, it's between one specific faction and Isra ...[text shortened]... srael's response would be like wiping out someone's entire family because one relative attacked you.
Actually it is. The rocket attacks are simply an excuse for Israel to enact more and more restrictive laws against palestinians. To push them back more and more out of jobs, out of homes, cut off their access to public services. Hamas is attacking Israel in futile attacks that seldom succeed and Israel responds disproportionately.
Israel is very much at war with palestinians
"If they cared about their fellow Palestinians, Hamas wouldn't continually to needlessly provoke an attack that they've already seen has resulted in heavy casualties to their own people, multiple times. "
Exactly. Hamas is not Palestine and it doesn't represent Palestinians.
"Israel's response would be like wiping out someone's entire family because one relative attacked you."
But they continue to oppress that someone's entire family. That someone's family continues to be kicked out of their homes. They continue to live in an open air prison, in an apartheid state. They continue to suffer high unemployment. They have poor living conditions.
But at least they aren't being bombed anymore. For now, at least.

Hamas is not Palestine and it doesn't represent Palestinians.
So for Israel to bombard Palestine due to the reckless actions of a faction that doesn't represent or even care about the interest Palestinians, these attacks are wholly unwarranted.

Agreed.

@vivify saidWhat utter BS. Why do you blind supporters of Palestinians talk so much nonsense. It is a shame to post such foolishness and not read up on the history of Hamas.

Hamas is a terrorist organization and was always one since the 90s. PLO under Arafat was in power and he lost elections [to Hamas] because the very same Palestinians who you think are poor victims, found Arafat to be too soft. They wanted more blood shed. Hamas likes bloodshed and terror tactics. The Palestinians support them.
Read their charter again. They want all Jews dead. They are not innocent victims.
@rajk999 saidWhich poster disputes this? You're getting upset over nothing.

@rajk999 saidYeah. Totally unreasonable demands.
Apparently today Hamas made two demands for a cease fire
1. Stay out of Al-Aqsa Mosque
2. Get out of Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood in East Jerusalem
I guess the bombs will continue flying.
🙄
@shavixmir saidNo. Demands that could have been sorted out peacefully.:
Yeah. Totally unreasonable demands.
🙄
- Al-Aqsa follow the Covid rules instead of throwing rocks at the police.
- Sheikh Jarrah - this requires more time and investigation. Properties abandoned cannot be abandoned for ever. The courts got involved and passed some laws regulariase these. The properties which are owned by Jews but occupied by Palestinians also needs some negotiation.
The problem with people is that they regurgitate what they hear on the news .. They dont know the stories behind what is happening.
@rajk999 saidHave you wondered why Palestinians support Hamas or that's just too much work?
Hamas represents the Palestinians and there is nothing they do which the Palestinians are displeased with. You are saying the opposite, which is not true.
Israel does nothing to help palestinians. They take more and more rights from them each day. Everything going into Gaza is controlled by Israel. Gaza has 50% unemployment.
Hamas is the only authority the palestinians perceive is on their side. You want to be better than Hamas? Be better then.
Two bullies are fighting each other (if the feeble responses Hamas puts out can even be called fighting) but one of them is also constantly beating the other bully's cousin. Who do you think the cousin will support?
@zahlanzi saidVivify was saying that Hamas was not representing Palestinians. I was just pointing out that that statment was not correct.

As for the WHY? Who cares?
@divegeester saidHave you actually read what he posted or you couldn't be bothered?
This post by you represents exactly the attitude which keeps the conflict out their going. .e.I. Someone holds a different view to me so I’ll call them an “aswipe”.
He looked at Palestinians getting bombed (on top of the apartheid and the unemployment) by Israel and said the "losing side should just lose properly"
This disregard of human life makes him an aswipe. A used aswipe.
"Someone holds a different view to me so I’ll call them an “aswipe”."
Depends what that view is. Which i am sure you are aware of but you wanted to post some meaningless word soup.
According to you, the conflict out "their" is a matter of holding different views, right? A little disagreement between palestinians wanting a different status than second class conquered citizens and Israel holding the opposite view.
