I love analogies. Remember when i had 1000 people shipwrecked on an island, where y’all suggested a society of socialism, ....that, no one could have more coconuts than others? I cited the fallacy of that, since some people work harder than others. I don’t think any one of you got it, and you stopped writing!!!

Above you say all of the success of these 3 years is the w ...[text shortened]... den, but don’t like Trump who is always working? 100 accomplishments. No puppeteers, all on his own.
The curve I was talking about was COVID 19.
And the economy that Trump inherited was from the Obama administration.
Which was rebuilt.

One shudders to think what might have come about if Trump had succeeded Bush in 2008.
Nah, never mind. Let's not go there.

Just for the record: the US is not great and, except for 3 years in the 1940’s, never was great.

Just to clear that up for you all.

Trump's accomplishments:

Add Brannon to the growing list.

Youre right, no need. Strange to think what posting fodder will be, starting nov 4. I won’t have to hear how Obama is responsible for all the good, and you will not have to hear me list 100+ accomplishments of President Trump. (If Trump is president, I will have a lot more to tell you about than that old corny list. )Thank you Jesus.

I think God will indeed be punishing if he sits back and lets us go into Socialism. My 13 yr old points out that Socialism has never worked in any country. Do you think it’s a good idea for us to give it a try?

Does your 13 year old read you bed time stories as well ?? 😛

Excuse me, I apologize for that.
I’m not being fair to 13 year olds everywhere.
They have to clean up the mess we are making now.

I was going for the analogy.
It's pretty hard to make an analogy for playing golf to doing one's job. 😛
O, but Trumpty Dumpty works ever so hard promoting his golf-hotel resorts for international diplomatic conferences.

Socialism works in several countries, notably Scandinavia. That does not mean, of course, that it would work in America. Vested interests would see to it that it wouldn’t.

Sorry ,i wasn't clear.....the question , posed to a person who is all in for Biden, do you think that it is a good idea to give socialism a try? Don't mind a few humorous comments, but what say you on this question?

Aw, c’mon, Shav. America has had many great moments. Johnjohn Kennedy saluting his slain father’s casket. That was iconic. And so much truly great music: Duke Ellington, Bob Dylan, Elvis, Jimi Hendrix, . . . And pocket calculators, don’t forget the pocket calculators. No pocket calculators, no Internet either.

Howdy Moonbus. How bout tell us in which of the 'several countries' it has been tried. But before you get lost in the weeds giving us nothing to understand or disseminate, please note this article from the Heritage Foundation, linked below. The second sentence says "Socialism has failed in every country in which it has been tried". I am not going to take my impt time to 'look up the reams of info about Scandanavia', for god sakes, I think what I have linked here is good enough. I can find more sites like this, but then, so can you. Bring it, Moonbus, but you will have to defeat the Heritage Foundation. Maybe you think it worked in Cuba? Could have, I guess. https://www.heritage.org/progressivism/commentary/three-nations-tried-socialism-and-rejected-it

Socialism can work under certain circumstances and Capitalism can fail under certain circumstances.

There are a couple of problems with the endless debates on the merits of Capitalism and Socialism.
1- many on the far right seem to fail to note the distinction between Socialism and Communism. Whether that failure is intentional (eg FOX Propaganda hosts should know better but continue to dumb down the distinction for the benefits of their generally ideologically illiterate audience) or accidental (please read the above in parenthesis), the ignorance of the differences between the 2 ideologies is constantly palpable.
2- the debate continues unabated within a black and white framework with no visible acknowledgement of a gray area, a middle ground.
3- the endless debate between economic systems at times appears to be a disguise for the real debate happening, that being a battle between social conservatives and social liberals.

Many countries have achieved a balance by using aspects of both ideologies, free market and socialism ideologies. A hybrid system, so to speak.

I will say this, America was not a Socialist country under 8 years of Barack Obama.
That is my soapbox. I’ll let the better informed take over.

Moon, you answered this in 90 seconds, which means you did not check the link, which thusly means you know you are wrong. Mark another win for AJoe.

SO, check this out. I don't know why I bother. Independent Sentinel. Your senior citizen is a socialist. You know, if he wins, I will do a daily check on his rise in net worth, along with AOC, et al, and entertain you, and the world. Well, i dont have to send it to Cuba, they already get it!

How bout you start another thread. Do liberals understand what fracking is all about? Better be careful what you and Kamal wish for.

Please someone, do take over. And plain english, please. Please tie Venezuela in while you are at it, and also refer to Margaret Thatcher's comment 'The trouble with Socialism is that eventually you run out of other people's money".
