@divegeester saidNice try.
The Hispanic vote is evidence that Harris didn’t win because she’s a woman you say …
So the Hispanics are to blame now?
No.
They're just another group conned into supporting a fascist. Groups consisting mainly of men.
It seems that there is a lot of deep seated resentment, paranoia and poverty in the US.
trump’s ambitions (what he’s spoken of) aren’t going to help the average joe pay the rent, have healthcare or afford groceries.
They’re not going to create job security or invest in infrastructure.
Which means the resentment and paranoia have taken the overhand.
As I stated earlier today, you’re going witness the beginnings of an autocratic system. Yes-men, centralization of absolute power, removal of checks and balances, dismanteling of a professional civil service and friends and family in positions of power.
Rich friends of trump will get richer, most other people poorer. And once the yes-men are in position, there will be a crackdown on dissent.
It’s a pattern which has oft been repeated.
@Suzianne saidOh so not only did Harris lose because of the Hispanic vote, but becuase the Hispanic voters are predominantly misogynistic fascists. I see…
Nice try.
No.

And you wonder why you lot are derided by the right!
@divegeester saidDon't forget I said they might be motivated by racism.

It's worth considering that Hispanics are not always one giant bloc. Mexicans have been known to look down on Salvadoreans for example.

@AThousandYoung saidYou're saying there are Trump supporters who have legitimate reasons for their vote that don't have to do with partisanship or hate for any group.
Your ability to predict womens' actions is wrong. That's the explanation.
Further elaboration - Perhaps they felt condescended to. Perhaps they really believe a fetus has the Right to Life. Perhaps they resent being associated with trannies by the Left (e.g. the J.K. Rowling TERF controversy). Perhaps they are choosing to vote based on ethnic identity instead of ...[text shortened]... nd personalities of the people in flyover country and apparently they didn't solve this problem yet.
The problem with that is when you speak to Trump supporters. Whenever you see them interviewed or watch their podcasts they have no ability to acknowledge anything wrong Trump does. You can point out with video when Trump made false statements or show proof of criminal behavior, and it's always just brushed off.
I would agree with you if there were Trump supporters who said "yeah, he's a scumbag but he's representing my ideals right now". I could at least respect that. But this isn't what happens; the majority of time, they'll change the topic or just claim anything that contradicts Trump is "fake news".
You talk about women feeling "condescended to". Let me ask you: do you honestly think it matters if Trump talked down to them or not? You saw the Access Hollywood clip, right? I'm sure you've heard of old interviews where Trump said women should be treated like "sh...t", right?
This is not a matter of logic here. Hispanics are moving to Trump despite his pardoning of people who oppressed him, despite the Puerto Rico being called a "garbage heap" at his rally, yet he gained Hispanic supporters.
Something is going on that defies logic. I'm not quite sure what it is, but it's Trump is untouchable. So long as he keeps pushing right-wing rhetoric, Trump is truly untouchable, no matter what he says and no matter what crimes he commits.
Trump can be as condescending as he wants to any group of people and somehow still get more popular. Condescension is not the problem and I don't think blaming this for Dems losing is right.
I do agree with your statement about trans people though. I'm fine with letting people live how they want but Dems go to embarrassing lengths to defy logic and common sense in order to accommodate them. The way Dems bend over backwards for trans people makes them look like they have no common sense.
@AThousandYoung saidI haven’t forgotten that ATY. It is interesting that you want to confirm that, like Suzianne, you are stillsomeone who likes to call people and groups who disapprove of your personal political perspective nasty names. I remember you and the liberal hordes here calling me all sorts of vile names because I was supporting “leave” during the Brexit Referendum. Goodness I was worse than Trump back then, a forum pariah, and if the rhetoric was to be believed, a outright racist Nazi.
Don't forget I said they might be motivated by racism.

Still, the leave vote won and Trump won today. Perhaps it’s time for you lefties to stop calling people nasty names and focus your energies on a more productive output. Just a suggestion.
@Suzianne saidI guess I don't know because I'm not that kind of a husband. But I hear you.
Women voting how their husbands voted, you know, because of fear of threats and intimidation. That's why.
This violates people's rights. What can be done about it?
@vivify saidYoung men are not 'seen' by the Democratic Party. (Many old white men are not 'seen' either.) This interview with Scott Galloway explains:
Something is going on that defies logic. I'm not quite sure what it is, but it's Trump is untouchable. So long as he keeps pushing right-wing rhetoric, Trump is truly untouchable, no matter what he says and no matter what crimes he commits.
A lot of young men also listened to the 3hr Trump/Joe Rogan podcast (I'm not posting that link). I endured it, but I could see how someone who was young or misguided or aggrieved could be enthralled.
Trump 'sees' them. Democrats 'see' only women and minorities. Few men.
@divegeester saidYou remember ME calling you names during the Leave referendum?

Why would I do that? I don't care about the UK at all.
@vivify saidThis lost the Dems the ENTIRE evangelical vote. All of it.
Dems go to embarrassing lengths to defy logic and common sense in order to accommodate them. The way Dems bend over backwards for trans people makes them look like they have no common sense.
Evangelicals cannot abide even the thought of a 'trans' - not a mention, not a whisper.
It turns them off utterly, completely, and incurably.
@AThousandYoung saidYes I remember. Perhaps you were caught up in the diatribe.
You remember ME calling you names during the Leave referendum?

My apologies if I’m misremembering.
