@torunn saidYes, Torunn but it is voluntary. Big difference.
It is not that things here continue as usual and that we have no restrictions - plans have been changed and postponed for big sports and entertainment events, concerts and many other things. We see much less people in the city, shops, restaurants, public transport. We do our shopping in different ways - either home deliveries, or ready packed articles to be picked up at the stores. The people here who seem less concerned about the situation are youngsters.
Whether it is wiser to stay at home or not involves many factors, the desperation of going without rent and food money chief among them.

@no1marauder saidWell Trump is the President. Surely you don't wish us to believe that under Trump everyone has what they need.
Who's "going without rent and food money" in the US?
Orange man bad after all, or you could say that thanks to Obama they have what they need.
Think before you post man!

@no1marauder saidAre you out of your mind, No1???? Jeezus, do you really need links to see the food lines to people with no means have grown huge in size.
Who's "going without rent and food money" in the US?
25.4 million Americans have been unemployed since CV arrived. And that is just the people that sign up for benefits. It does not include people that work under the table or people that can't get thru to process a form at unemployment.
C'mon dude, you must be living high and dry, eh? Guaranteed income and a nice vacation.
I am quite stunned you posed the question.

@earl-of-trumps saidI repeat the question; do you have an actual answer this time?

The US' social welfare system is inferior to most advanced nations, but it is sufficient to provide aid during a temporary emergency. Indeed with the added unemployment benefits, many lower wage workers have higher incomes now.

The post that was quoted here has been removedSome might be gullible enough to believe that the reasons why right wingers want workers to risk their and their families and loved ones' health and very lives by making them go back to employment in the midst of a deadly epidemic is for the workers' good rather than for the profits of the elite and for the improvement of Republican electoral chances.
I'm not one of them and neither are most Americans. https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/large-majorities-americans-back-coronavirus-restrictions-slower-return/story?id=70291873

And more than that.
Where I am kids are going hungry because they are used to getting two meals a day at school but school is now closed.
I *cannot* believe you are so f'n disconnected. I can't believe it.

@earl-of-trumps saidPlease stop pretending that you right wingers give the tiniest s**t about the working poor in the US. You have bitterly fought every single policy that would have improved their economic well-being like an increased minimum wage; you've applauded cuts in vital programs like food stamps and unemployment insurance; you've consistently supported the profits of the rich over the needs of workers.

Nobody is buying this crap.
The articles pretty much make clear that the main problem is bottlenecks in programs that aid the unemployed. Guess why they exist? Because right wingers have been sabotaging the program for years throwing up roadblocks that delay benefits and giving out low amounts in many "red" States. Florida has been one of the absolute worst at this and that is why few there have even got their benefits a month after filing.
Your pretend crocodile tears for the working poor are as phony as they could be; you are anxious for them to help the rich and your preferred political party by risking their lives and health and that of their families - you don't care about them at all.

The argument *WAS* that people were going hungry.
When you found out I was right, you immediately shift to "you don't give crap about the working poor" - and then again, to WHY the people are going hungry (so you admit it) and blame right-wingers, of course!
Talk about insult, lie, and straw man argument.
Face it, you are wrong. And thanks for the lying insult that I don't care about hungry poor people, you dickasaurus.
