Yes, I agree that a movement in one country can help with general principles, on any issue. But I'm wary of imposing things from one country to another - an effective movement for any sort of social change has to be home-grown. Nobody knows how to do things in your country better than people from your country, and this applies to any sort of political moveme ...[text shortened]... peace movement in mine, then we all have to accept that this is ok.

IMO = In my opinion.
Can the peace movements in different countries work together ?

Could they plan and implement something on an international scale ?

Maybe a "Keep Australia's Hands off East Timor and its Oil" movement?

Great idea but I'm thinking of something on a much larger scale.

Yes, they'd need to work together.

Yes, they'd need to have co-ordinated activities on an international scale.

This might mean some kind of international federation, or some such structure was needed.

I just don't think they should impose their way of doing things in another country.

I don't think I was suggesting imposing on another country. I was suggesting something similar to the introduction of carbon credits on an international scale.

No, I don't think you said you intended to impose anything.

I'm just expressing my view that there is no one-size-fits-all peace movement. We need to accept different ways of doing things from different people.

But surely we should all work against responding to violence with violence and consider providing a financial incentive to do so ?
