Actual fighting, street fighting, is brutal and savage. Sport fighting, with rules, at least has some semblance of civility balanced with respect. Fun to watch, but painful to experience.
That "mixed martial arts" fighting is the closest thing to brutal and savage as it gets in my opinion. Painful to watch. 😕
Boxing is nothing like street fighting. I believe you already know that. I've done both, street fighting can be very dangerous. In todays world it is done with guns, and knives, so I would say that is a lot more brutal than the old days. I stay away from that crap!
I went to an MMA event that was held here in Halifax, Nova Scotia back in Ocober 4, 2014. I got tickets for 5 of my friends we all sat in one section, one was a women of one of my male friends she loved MMA, they use to make it a Saturday night event to watch on T.V. would make snacks and have a little party between the two of them.
One match lasted like 14 seconds, with a bare foot kick to the other guys head, knocked him out cold. I was thinking at the the time to train all that time for the fight then be out in 14 seconds. Just think about all the work that guy put into preparing for the fight.

I miss the days when people use to say 'kerfuffle.'
Things were much simpler back then. Tank tops were all the rage and a crisp one pound note could bribe a lazy sister into cleaning the rabbit hutch.
