Could not see a thing with them bloody things on.
Filling up Bates Motel (my club) with under 1400's (max 10)
then coach them up to +1800 - this will take up all my time so am
imposing a total forum ban on myself (you will pleased to hear) as from
next week.
Hi divegeester - You are in Bates Motel, that was a wee free lesson from SG.
Don't worry, Pattern recognition will be covered in full.
SwissGambit; if you are still remotely alive when I get my rating to within kicking distance of your arse......😛
Yeah....not gonna happen i know!

lesson #1
I am not to be called Greeny.
Lesson #2
Stop upsetting the good players. I intend to invite three or four in
(one at a time) so you lot can pick their brains and get them to
go over one of their games in depth.
(I can see I'm going to have to keep an eye on you) 😉

There's artistic value in a spiffy Queen trap no matter what the ratings of the players are.
And this 'innocent kid' will learn far more from suffering a loss due to a Queen trap than he would from any words I could say.
Edit: not so sure how 'honest' or 'innocent' he may be. From his profile:[quote]ive been playing chess for 15 years and ive also ...[text shortened]... o be a tad bit higher than 1203, or 1400, to come second in the british championships. 😛
Exact same time frame as this boy. Stop being so subjective and cynical. Doesn't benefit of the doubt still have an address on your street?

Thanks, Greenpawn, for being here. You are one of several members I've learned much from. Nothing particularly technical but all about tone.

What we have here is you being oblivious to the meaning of your own words.
P.S. Any chucklehead can make a profile on the internet. However, when someone claims to take 2nd place in a NATIONAL championship, I tend to expect a higher play quality than I see in his games. They certainly ought to be able to beat a mere-2000 player like me.
Edit: And he claims he's 17 or 18, and has played for 15 years. That means he 'played' at age 2 or 3! Yeah, right! 🙄
Originally posted by Grampy BobbyNow, see, that is eminently more believable than if you were to claim that your son tied for second in the US NATIONAL Championship, yet only had a 1400-or-so rating on RHP.

Why do you think any of this is subjective? Last I checked, ratings and championship titles were good objective measures of ability.

Couldn't care less if this 'conversation' is over or not.
This epic is finally over.

Ha - wrong thread, Swiss Gambit popping up all over the place has
got me all confused.
Never mind though - the link will take you to a jolly jape.

I wasn't aware I had upset anyone, let alone any good players. Unless you are meaning my wistful reference to kicking SG's butt? Like THAT's ever going to happen - but we all need stretch goals! :-)
Your keen eye on my progress will be most welcome, thank you and any other players like SG who may be willing to share thier insights and experience.
Cheers
DG.
