They can rome all they want, but when they sign up here, they sign up for chess....not porn.
Get over it.
It's just a video, you don't even have to choose to watch it. You know 5 seconds into the video what type of video it's going to be.
Get over it.

If you want to go see porn, you know where to go, and if you want free expression of whatever floats your boat, i'm sure you'll find an appropriate site for that too.
You're wrong to expect others to accept your own moral code, and you signed up to the same rules i did when you signed up for the site. Don't expect a free pass just because you're a kid.....life doesn't work that way.

2.I'm not a kid, nor am I arguing that anybody get free passes because they're kids. That's not my point.
3.Yeah, I know where to go if I want porn, that again isn't my point. I'd never come to this site looking for that stuff.
4.Yeah, he deserves a ban - 3 weeks to 6 weeks seems fair enough to me. But to lose his account over it? I'm just not sure about that...
5.Don't start lecturing me on how life works.
My point is simply this: The kid made a mistake. It was very stupid, but everybody makes mistakes. I make them everyday, and you do too. He should get a ban, but not a permanent ban, that's extreme. People get way too worked up over videos...chill out, don't watch it and move on. If people don't want their kids watching these videos, you know what those parents should do? Figure out how to work a computer and stop their kids from being able to view those movies - or at least monitor it.

They're kids. Doing *adult things* doesn't make you an adult any more than doing things generally reserved for or attributed to females would make you a female. Looking at photos in Playboy doesn't mean you know all the various weird fetishes people have, nor does it mean you need to see videos of such things. And 13-year-olds? Responsible? Please! Most 13-year-olds have the self-control of a toddler. Even if they did, though, they have reasonable assurance by Russ and Chris that what they click on while they're on this site will be within a certain spectrum of decency or at least not extremely awful. The only reason I didn't click on the link myself is that I considered the source and didn't trust him.
Jesus Christ, why don't you understand that 15 year olds AREN'T kids, as much as you want them to be? Hell, at 15 I was doing stuff that could never be classified as "kid stuff" - if you catch my drift.
IDK about you, but I'd seen porn by 13..I mean at least playboy, kids aren't so innocent, dude.
You really think that a 15 or 16 year old doesn't kn ...[text shortened]... ity at that point in their life to be careful of what random links they click on.

Have a read, and give it a rest with the free speach crapola, it's been done ad-infinitum.
I actually agree that the forums might have a bit too much moderation, but i accept it's reason for being. The place would be a sess pool of idiots vomiting porn and F@*$ words.
I think a lifetime forum ban would've been sufficient, but i'm not the admin.

Oh, so doing "*adult things*" doesn't make you an adult? Really, then what does? Being 18? So when I turned 18 back in June I suddenly became an adult? Or are you saying that when I learned to make good decisions I became an adult? Who's the judge of that?

Yeah, I don't need to hear about not knowing weird fetishes people have - I told you, I've seen that video. Probably a little beyond normal porn there, but still, you know literally 3 seconds into the video whether or not you should be watching that.
Most people have the self-control of a toddler, regardless of age.
At 13 I had the brain capacity to figure out whether or not I trusted a source, I think that's a pretty basic skill. Do you really think that DD deserves to have his account indefinitely banned for posting that link?
Originally posted by huckleberryhoundI love the moderators, they kick serious ass and they know what they're doing. I definitely appreciate that they do it for free, and imo deserve some money. But I still don't think that posting a link to a movie deserves a complete ban - unless you post offensive links multiple times. But, as far as I know, that's not the situation here. You don't think that 6 weeks would have been sufficient time for a ban?
Yadda yadda yadda.

Russ or Chris looked at what had been posted, and decided that banning him for posting it was the right thing to do, and try asking me if i agree. I'd say yes. If it wasn't right to ban for the material, it sure was for the stupidity of posting it in the first place. What did he seriously expect ? Regardless of your opinion of free speach, or internet freedom....if you put up posters of the action in the video on your school bulitin board, and put your name to them, would you honestly expect to still be there the next day ?

On what do you base these claims? Also, if it is 'nearly impossible to achieve', why make it even harder?

Ok, you're entitled to an opinion. But it is just an opinion, and the site owners are within their rights to enforce a lifetime ban. It's their call.
Originally posted by Iron Monkey1. Maybe it's just a misguided personal opinion, but it's what I've decided based on the people that I know. Maybe my idea of well-adjusted development is different from yours, idk, it's a very subjective thing to talk about and I don't think it's worth getting into.

2.Yeah, true, and it doesn't affect me, so whatever. But still, I think people (not the admins, I realize they're just protecting their own asses, which is what I'd do too) get way too worked up over "offensive" bullcrap.

Alright guys, you make some good points. I've made my point, and I've made it more than clear. You can agree or disagree, I couldn't care less. Anyhow, it is what is, hopefully this won't happen again in the future.
I'll let it go now, nearly time to go home 😛

I made the point before - if this stuff slips through then you could innocently click a tinyurl link & you could well be prevented from doing more than just playing chess at work!
Either this stuff is 100% allowable (& TOS are changed) or it's a 100% enforced bannable offence.
No grey areas unfortunately.
