Eating a hamburger has a point it is part of a tranfer of energy that is the way all animals get there energy. Throwing a mouse on a fire is a pointless violent sadistic way of killing something for no gain whereas killing a cow for food is near to essensial unless we became vegatarians (the world could support a higher population) but that cow is going into something useful unlike that mouse.
Throwing a mouse into a fire is a quick death just as quick as any. It sounds cruel, but I don't think it is any worse than electricution or the letting of blood on the killing floor of slaughter houses.

If killing an animal by anymeans amuses you, I think you have some real problems. Killing is never amusing but a necessary for living.
So can I come over your house and set your dog on fire, just for my amusement? I mean, I don't have anything to do tonight, so I figure it'll fill up the time.

You say how it is not cruel but the fact that he was able to set it on fire and not kill it i think means you can't call it a quick death at all it must of run at least 6 feet on fire, If he was going to burn it i would of expected he could of done a good quick job of it, but no he couldn't.
Originally posted by sasquatch672No it's not saddistic. Not at all. Don't put emotions into a story that was suprisingly emotionless. You don't know what this guy was thinking and people are making him into a monster because he was trying to kill a mouse. As I have stated before....nothing can be more cruel than the glue trap for mice, even though it sounds easier to do. You just open up the box and set it out.......check it in a few days and wowie!...you have caught a mouse that incedentaly chewwed off one leg completely and is halfway through the next and has misarably managed to pull off his tail and toes trying to get out, but alas that is humane...right?
So the guy, by your logic, NEEDED to immolate that mouse for his very survival. I'm sure you're not arguing this, but it illustrates the ridiculousness of this guy's behavior. It's sadistic.
The mouse would have died almost instanly in the fire.
Cruel? I don't think so.

And you're totally missing the point. Why is it okay to set a mouse on fire but not a dog? You don't want me to set your dog on fire, and I don't want to set your dog on fire. But the thought of setting a mouse on fire disgusts me just as much as the thought of setting a dog or cat or some other "cute" animal on fire.
Would you take a mouse to the vet if you found it alive in a trap?

Maybe you'll let me set you on fire and we can see if you think it's cruel then. Whaddya say?
What gave that guy - or you - the right to decide when another creature has had enough life?
Are you more human than human?

It's one thing to want to kill pests that are getting into your house, food...whatever. Hell, if we had a problem with mice at our house, I'd be the first to run out to the store and get mouse traps. On the other hand, burning them alive is just sick. Why do you think so many tests are run on mice and rats? The reason is that their physical makeup is very similar to a human's. Therefore, I image they would suffer in a very similar fashion. It's not about who's higher up on the "food chain" or anything--we're not talking about food. Just a simple respect for life. Why make something suffer when you don't have to? That's just stupid.
Originally posted by RingtailhunterIf sasquatch thinks the guy who set the mouse on fire should be homeless, and living on the streets, I wonder what sasquatch thinks should be done to me, lets see, I have used live mouse traps to catch varmits, I use live animals to train my hound dogs, I am a bowhunter for big game. I gassed thousands of insects at my house, I have trapped raccons, foxes, and skunks in foot traps, And RAID is used alot around me. Believe me, most of these animals would take the fire

What do you think sasquatch, do I need to be executed?
