It gets better, he has just messaged me implying that he is resigning all his games except the ones against me. Putting his rating as low as possible in an attempt to pull my rating down
Isnt there some sort of rule against rigging results to affect ratings?
You should have timeouted him, stay in silence and enjoying your victory;Edmond seemed to me a very nice and polite person,i'm afraid he leaves.

The message log from our game:
Read into it what you wish.
13 Black Sorry to pospone your extreme pleasure to time out me in this game too for at least 24 hours, but i must resign first all my games. Then you will "earn" your points
14 White You are like a spoilt child. It is nobodys fault but your own that you timed out, so dont start laying blame on me. Shame really, you are a good player, a bit tempermental though. As you have committed yourself to leaving, I will wish you good luck wherever you end up.

Edit! So all we can do is sit back, and not take a side on something we don't know about yet.
Perhaps Prawn Sarnie will post the email as proof. It sounds like something for the people who run RHP to look into. If losing a game due to time out has upset Dantes so much then he shouldn't play so many games, we all have to abide by the timeout rules and chose to make and accept challenges on the basis as to whether we think we can keep to the timeout or not.
Originally posted by RavelloNope, that doesn't sit. The chronology is all wrong. Edmond was well into his "resignation rampage" long before PSarnie made any public comment.

But as Phlabibit says, we should just let admin deal with it. They, and they alone can see those OTB messages.

I think having the option of "automatic timeouts" when challenging players to games would help with this problem of whether to "claim wins" or not. Let's face it, who wouldn't claim a win against the number one player given half the chance. Prawn Sarnie is not at fault, but why Edmond Dantes is throwing such a strop over losing only his second game on this site due to his own failing to observe the timeout rules I can't fathom?!
It would seem to me that if ratings were based upon psychological aberrations, Dantes would certainly be in the top 3, giving consideration to his somewhat irregular conduct today.
I suspect that I would shade Mr D in this though, taking the Silver, having also resigned a whole tranche of games for no reason other than to cheer up a few other people.
In Gold medal position, it would have to be Prawn Sarnie, - he who can boast in one message that he is beating Mr D, not merely in one, but in three games (!) - and then a short while later, posting a further (contradictory) message, berating Dantes - this because he fears that Dantes' reduced rating will impact adversly on Prawnie's own rating. If you were going to beat him Mr P, you were going to beat him - you would merely have GAINED perhaps a point or so less in achieving the feat. (Yeah right - we all believe you too!)
Munching on sour grapes is in no way a pastime practised only by Dantes.
Frankly, I suspect that most of the players in the top 20 or thereabouts are jealous of his abilities, and most of those out of the top 20 were too many divisions below him to really care - they would never have had a ghost of a chance in championing him anyway.
Let's face it, Dantes was never truly beaten on this site. His "losses" were on a technicality only.
Chess is not a lout's game like darts or pool, and although those who timed him out might have acted within the rules of the game, their conduct was not honourable, and their "victories" were both shallow, hollow, and most of all, pyrrhic, costing this site the loss of its greatest player and showman.
It appears to me now that of all the new pretenders, only Little Bear has shown any true quality in both his chess and his demeanor.
Let's face it, Fievel was beating Dantes, Prawny was beating Dantes, we might ALL have beaten Dantes. Except you didn't, and you couldn't. The people who timed out Dantes have not cheated on him, they have cheated themselves out of any opportunity to ever properly beat him.
All said and done, this site is populated almost exclusively by dysfunctional anti-social cybernerds who have no life (and it would appear, among the upper echelons, little spirit of generosity).
I almost feel like resigning my own games now as an act of token kinship with the great Dantes. Except I don't need to because I am cr*p at chess anyway.

i know that would get to my head.
probly better, as Mr Sarnie says, is to have a simple auto-time-out.
of course it would be nice to have the power to not claim the win in exceptional cases of our choosing.
