A shame to lose a good player to do it though.
Maybe Ed has something to learn from "Feivel the King of Firing Up"!!!!!
(recall Ed's first loss, also recall mysterious deals being cut with Living Legend within tournaments and clans)
Well done Feivel, keep 'em coming - and keep on playing!

I agree.
sad to loose a good player but so be it if he throws his toys.
as for M Kearns comments - well if we are all cyber geeks then guess what chappie SO ARE U & i really could not care less.
as for T/O, leave them as they are.
90% of the time they are taken for the points (myself included), i however did have a T/O option against Eddy D but did not take it. reason being i would rather learn from someone who is obviously a far superior player to myself.
as for anyone around my rating or below i will take the option as and when i feel, unless there is some communication from the player in question.
a sad day for RHP but no one need feel guilty & all the eddy d groupies well i think they should follow him if that is the way they feel.

Prawn Sarnie is most definitely not to blame. He has done nothing that the rules of this site prohibit. He was involved in ED departing, true, but quite innocent.
I cannot explain why ED chose to quit. There maybe many reasons, maybe this one timeout triggered this re ...[text shortened]... e - but for standard games, I would like to leave it up to the individuals concerned.

everything works fine if a bit of courtesy and consideration is applied. when the person has a legit reason for not moving, it's ok to grant extra time within reason - but those granted that time should recognize that they are indebted. though i have never needed an extension, i have occasionally apologized to certain opponents for taking longer than i felt i should but they (decent people like littlebear and fernando) told me not to worry, they wouldn't time me out. i have been presently demonstrating that 'indebtedness' by waiting for civpro1 to return from vacation for over 2 months π
considering the extent to which people rant and rave about 'having the right to make their own decisions' and 'exercising their freewill', it seems silly to assign the job of timeouts to a third party when it is well within our intellectual capacity to manage something so simple as the clicking of a mousebutton ourselves. it should be just as simple to handle the consequence of someone else clicking that mousebutton when the timelimit has been overstepped without requiring a 60+ post thread to take place.

[b]I'm not taking sides in this squabble but i feel i must object to your stereo typing of the people who play chess on rhp and also to what i can only describe as an attack on what are more typically working class games.
1) you imply that darts and pool are a louts game. ??
That is probably because pool and darts would both seem to be games played primarily in smoke filled rooms by the indigenous underclass population of the North of England - typically, ill-mannered, big bellied chain smoking, dole collecting, lager swilling Mirror reading Neanderthal types. And that is of course, the women.

I consider myself of being from the north and am very offended by what you wrote ...
Just to put the record straight, I do like a pint of lager and the occasional game of darts and pool - does that make me an underpriviliged person??
And what gives you the right to stereotype people from the north of England anyway?
And being on the topic of intelligence, my underprivileged, minuitive cerebic ranks approximately 800!! points higher on the player table and if my brain is small then I leave it up to everyones imagination to imagine YOUR brain size ...
