@divegeester saidNo doubt there will sadly be a similar tragic, high profile story related to the SpaceX Starship in time.
Indeed. This was being discussed last night on Channel 5 here in the UK. The bottom line in that debate was more or less (although not articulated as bluntly), this incident is more unusual, therefore more interesting, therefore more media prone. Looking at various social media I say that media consumers were less interested, less caring about the 5 people who died in the ...[text shortened]... ing OceanGate.
Edit; there is also the Titanic and the bottom-of-the-ocean disaster movie drama.
@yo-its-me saidThere is never a good time to laugh at the death or misfortune of other people.

@pianoman1 saidWe all know the titanic sunk so were not learning anything. From what I can see is they just wanted to get up close to look at it. I don't call that exploring. If anything they were exploring the vessel they were in, we all know how that worked out.

@pianoman1 saidThere’s a lot of people “sneering” online because those who died were very wealthy. What a sad mindset.

@divegeester saidI hope you are not referring to thoughtful analysis and reaction to the tragedy such as this...

I applaud this woman's "mindset". It's a pity she has been inundated with death threats.
