@indonesia-phil saidOne up and two down for this one, does this mean that:
Grass is Green.
a) Two people don't agree that grass is green.
b) Two people don't approve of the fact that grass is green.
c) Two people don't like me.
If there was ever a demonstration of the pointlessness of anonymous red thumbs, here it be.....

I would welcome confrontation; for one of the six (so far) people who thumbed my last post down to come on here and tell me why they did it, but you and I know this ain't going to happen.
@indonesia-phil saidI would also urge them to do that because I consider you somebody who would then have a reasonable discussion.

I would also urge you to consider that there are many who would not behave reasonably in a discussion of that nature which might be linked to people thumbing from the shadows rather than confronting. If that is the case though, I don't see why people would feel the need to do that to you based on your posting and that does also beg the question, are they just doing it now because it is annoying you? For what it's worth I do think that sort of thing goes on.
Kewpie speaks of clique thumbing. For what it is worth I have seen no evidence that this is coordinated.
@relentless-red saidSome people don't like confrontation reason for the thumbs. They can express what they are feeling with a thumb up or down which ever be the case. I believe that is the reason that Russ created them to begin with. We even had a VOTE on whether the person who thumbed the post either way be named. It was voted down by a landslide. Personally I voted that it be shown, but then I don't mind the odd confrontation with anyone. Exception being Clanmate, a Moderator or Russ, not to say it hasn't happened in the past but was kept respectable. No one will ever win an argument with a Moderator or Russ. FACT!!!

@relentless-red saidNo, I doubt if it's coordinated, and it takes more than this to annoy me, but thanks for your words.

-Removed-Interesting. You seem to assert that a reasonable conversation would not follow if people named their reasons for red thumbing Phil's post. Why do you then expect people to stop red thumbing?
You seem to assert that things here are static and predetermined by an established forum culture and yet you are arguing for something to change.
I don't believe that human groups and cultures are static. I think they are dynamic and that they grow and evolve. I do not think the virtual world growing up and evolving is your enemy. I think that would be the thing most likely to make the thumbing stop.
