Rusty should continue "airing on the side".
Just not on my side.
I'd say you are way off topic! 😛 😉

Did you notice the TOPIC? Or would you be too busy throwing shots at folks? 😛 😉

No credible doctor has ever said that wearing a cloth with macroscopic weave is a boundary to a microscopic virus.
So your doctor told you not to bother with wearing mask? 🙂

Firstly: Not all masks are created equal. Most of what is being worn are effectively no mask masks and some others are being shown to be anti mask masks! That’s right...they are increasing transmission of COVID!

Secondly: since this is proving to be the case, like I said...let’s just dispense with the unpleasantries and “get busy living or get busy dying- cause to tell you the truth, I don’t give a damn” - Red

What masks do you think are most effective? After all the doctors say it is best to wear any mask then none at all.

It would be really nice to hear from a qualified Doctor if we have any on here and get their opinion on the type of masks BEST to wear!

I never go to these sites that people randomly put on here joe-shmo! Just tell me what type of mask you wear, how hard is that for you to do?

They want you to nix the homemade stuff and wear the N95’s.

Personally... I don’t care what you do.

Nor should you care what I do, or me what you do.

The thing is here what is safe for everyone. You really don't seem to care about that either.

From my understanding the N95's should be for Medical Staff.

N95 Respirators Not for Use by the General Public
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) does not recommend that the general public wear N95 respirators to protect themselves from respiratory diseases, including coronavirus (COVID-19). Those are critical supplies that must continue to be reserved for health care workers and other medical first responders, as recommended by current CDC guidance.

Sounds like the anti science movement is fully grown here at RHP.

Doesn't matter what science says does it? We are FREE do do whatever we want no matter how many MORE will die because we don't want to wear masks. Totally emasculating right? NOBODY gets in the way of my macho.

Not sure why you address that to me? I support wearing masks by doing so wherever it is expected. I would want everybody to do so wherever it was a requirement.

As a retired doctor I am very pro-science. That is why I comment that it would be interesting to know if there is any science behind the mask wearing because it certainly flies in the face of what I was taught, but if there is doubt you do it. It is my old colleagues and friends who are the older health professionals who put their lives at risk so I would only want the best to be done by them.

I think you are confusing me with somebody involved in American tribal politics. I am somebody who is curious about the science behind it all and whether the mask wearing will turn out to have been of value. Science is about being allowed to be curious rather than told what to think. I certainly never told anybody to ignore their local mask rules, but I am certainly pro-science.

Pete,
Has the mask already proven its value where it is worn by everyone and distance rule kept the number have decreased. Where it has not been done the numbers have risen. It doesn't take a Doctor or Scientist to figure out wearing masks actually does work. Now if only they could come up with a vaccine that worked with not many side effects or next to none would be perfect.

I wasn't aware of a scientific study demonstrating that correlation. I think it will be interesting to see when the science is available. In the meantime you do it whether the evidence is anecdotal or simply based on hope. So please don't confuse my scientific curiosity with some political anti mask wearing movement.

PEOPLE WEAR YOUR MASKS Do whatever you can for the sake of my old friends and colleagues who have been living through hell.

I would be very careful to try a vaccine at an initial stage - after a while maybe.

I don't think the psychological effect of masks should be ignored. It's a large part of what makes them effective.

A mask says "I don't want to cause harm to anyone else if I can't stop my sneeze or cough effectively. I care about the health of others. I don't want to add to the risks faced by health workers and others who can't entirely avoid close contact".

In this new Covid world wearing a mask is part of the whole body language thing. It reminds us, and others, that we're all safer if we keep our distance.
