@ghost-of-a-duke saidSo why was it a factor for the gay couple?
As a reasonably intelligent fellow, I think a person's sexuality shouldn't be a factor in whether or not a baker decides to sell them a cake.
That's my view, as a reasonably intelligent fellow.
There are at least half a dozen other bakeries that would have gladly filled their order. So why did they go to the one bakery they knew was not sympathetic to their lifestyle? Out of all the bakeries they could have gone to, why that one?
It doesn't take an Adrian Monk to solve this mystery. All it takes is a scant teaspoon of common sense.
@FMF said - do you support the hundreds of laws that have been passed across numerous conservative states
in recent years that seek to discriminate against, harass and demonize trans people
-----------------------------------------------
Well, obviously, I would have to judge each law on an individual basis, but the way you make them all sound,
I doubt I can support such laws. You may ask about any specific law now, if you like.
Also, I am a Libertarian and I believe in freedom. And what that means here is that a person can do
whatever they want on their own property. My stance there usually gets the socialists excitedly against 🙂
@earl-of-trumps saidIf what you claim about yourself is true, then why on page 1 did you disingenuously pretend that anyone is asking you to go down on "bended knee, showering the trans with kissy-faces and glowing accolades"?

Your sneering hyperbole is a rhetorical gimmick that sounds little different to the talking points of people in your country who appear to hate trans people so much that they are passing laws to proactively discriminate against them.
@kilroy70 saidA scant teaspoon of common sense would lead a chap to atheism and away from such discriminatory behaviour.

@divegeester saidNo. No, it evidently isn't.
Surely it’s illegal to discriminate in your ridiculous country?
@ghost-of-a-duke saidDiscrimination based on what, your own firmly established atheism?
A scant teaspoon of common sense would lead a chap to atheism and away from such discriminatory behaviour.
Using your logic, if a white couple set out to disrupt a company run by blacks, you could accuse that company of discriminatory behavior (based on race). Is that really the sort of pandoras box you want to see opened, not just in the US or UK but anywhere?
I know, I know, a lot of questions (and question marks) here. But they are mostly rhetorical, because I find it difficult to believe you are okay with predatory behavior in some instances but not in others.
@divegeester saidThat was a response to FMF. He said:

I'm still waiting for him to name a few of the hundreds of laws that have been passed across numerous conservative states in recent years that seek to discriminate against, harass and demonize trans people.
@kilroy70 saidThere is nothing predatory in asking a bakery to make a wedding cake, nor is it the customer's job to research the religious values of the baker. And you are presuming the couple sought out a Christian baker to cause an issue, rather than the far more likely scenario of a Christian baker allowing their faith to discriminate against a gay customer who rightly felt aggrieved by being declined custom as a result of their sexuality.

When the gay couple were looking for a wedding cake, should they have Googled 'non-Christian bakeries?' And would every Christian baker acted in such a fashion? I doubt it.
@ghost-of-a-duke saidI'm not presuming anything. It was confirmed by an acquaintance of the couple who came forward and said they intentionally targeted the Christian business. He was personally offended by their actions, and was worried over how public perception of this event might impact the gay community.

@kilroy70 saidHave you provided a link somewhere to this example you have given?

It rather sounds like you are making it up as you go along.

What the acquaintance said barely showed up in a local news source, and there was never any mention of it in any of the national news outlets (conservative or left wing). I most likely saw it in one of the many local neighborhood newspapers... which btw are predominantly left wing papers.
Regardless, the acquaintance didn't say anything many of us who actually live here didn't already know.
@kilroy70 saidDo you have any online resources listing these "hundreds of laws"?
And what of yourself? Do you support the hundreds of laws that have been passed across numerous liberal states in recent years that seek to discriminate against, harass and demonize christians and republicans?
