@kevin-eleven saidA place I rarely venture into. Politics and Religion are two things no one ever seems to win the argument it goes around and around in a big circle.
Maybe this could be a topic in the Spirituality Forum. 😉

@the-gravedigger saidHa!
FMF will make the forums greener by replacing gas lighting with solar.
@the-gravedigger saidhe will provide the steady hand the forums need

@divegeester saidYou're like the Madison Cawthorn of people who should not be "helping" @FMF's campaign.
Are you a bender now then?

@kewpie saidIt's like wanting to be a politician.
The trouble with becoming a moderator is that you're required to read everything on the alerts list, and spend time analysing the intentions of people who may be simply bored or intoxicated. It's a bit like working as a sewer unblocker. It's one of those tasks assumed by people who want to do good and make a difference. It's an odd ambition.
While some start out with the best intentions, like Jimmy Stewart's 'Mr. Smith', wanting to 'do good' or 'make a difference', sooner or later they develop bias, whether personal, or for recompense. Meanwhile, some start with the bias already in place, and those motivations are far different.
They say that most people who strive to be a politician probably shouldn't be a politician. I expect the same applies to moderators.
@kevin-eleven saidBeing a moderator has nothing to do with 'Spirituality'.
Maybe this could be a topic in the Spirituality Forum. 😉
@gertrude saidOne imagines that one could get those one doesn't like off the website much more quickly as a moderator than as a typical forum dweller. How many bans does one have to get before one gives up hope? After all, moderators can ban, forum dwellers can only bad-mouth.
he will provide the steady hand the forums need
I'm sure what you mean by 'steady hand' is more like Neil Young's "kinder, gentler machine-gun hand".
@ghost-of-a-duke saidHe's a master at "square pegs in round holes". In other words, he gets it wrong nearly all the time. The only condition that has to be met is: "people he doesn't like", or "people who don't suck up to him" (but I repeat myself).
Dive has me pegged as a Machiavellian puppet master...
@very-rusty saidI told you so.
Well I looked around and couldn't find the Anti-Very Rusty thread. 🙂

@divegeester saidGet serious.
I think it was just a discussion; I wasn’t aware of any attempts to “ram through changes against other people’s wishes”.
