Maj Sjöwall, dead 84 years old, was a Swedish author and translator. She is best known for the collaborative work with her partner Per Wahlöö on a series of ten novels about the exploits of Martin Beck, a police detective in Stockholm. They said they were inspired by Ed McBain's novels, which they translated to Swedish.

Very sad. As I understand it, Little Richard gave it all up to go into the ministry. The money and popularity never went to his head. Admirable.
