I'll list 1-5 for each catagory with the #1 band getting 5 points. I will only mention real bands and not rock solo artists using backing musicians
With Excellence I'll refer to musicianship. 1. Cream 2. Led Zeppelin 3. Yes 4. Allman Brothers 5. The Greatful Dead
For Quality I'll weigh in songwriting and consistancy thrughout their carreer. 1. The Beatles 2. The Rolling Stones 3. Pink Floyd 4. The Who 5. CSNY
For Achievement I'll isolate to the impact that they had on rock 1. The Beatles 2. The Rolling Stones 3. The Sex Pistols 4. Nirvana 5. Pink Floyd
Beatles - 10 pts
The Rolling Stones - 8 pts
Cream - 5 pts
Led Zeppelin - 4 pts
Pink Floyd - 4pts

as far as pop music goes.
fave zeppelin song is rain song. fave zep riff is down by the seaside.
fave beatles song is gloden slumbers or across the universe depending on my mood, sometimes the whole mean mr mustard polythene pam thing.
fave riff of all time is probably Band Of Gypsies machine gun(also my fave guitar solo)
