Anybody ever heard of YES?..... Led Zep, Genesis, etc etc. All finished apart from the odd wonder tour to fill their back pockets. Yes have been consistent for 39 years and never stopped, and still going.... so what makes a supergroup? Commitment and keyboards like Rick Wakeman and Guitar like Steve Howe. That's why they r still going and get better n better. Name a Rock supergroup going longer!

How are they the best ever.. they maybe the best at this moment in your mind but ever??
I've always been a huge fan of theirs, though. Quite a reign of talent has passed through Mr. Fripp's army. They might be the best prog rock band of them all.
Originally posted by Dr Strangelovelol I'm getting long in the tooth ..I had honestly never heard of them but my wife says she sort of went out with their drummer during an Aussie tour years ago. Their history is amazing and I'll check them out more. But they come over as a talent funnel.. lots went through them none stayed.. they turned down Bryan Ferry and according to Fripp.. Elton John auditioned for them.. I did like Emerson lake & Palmer and I must catch the track with vocals by Jon Anderson.. super guitarist too.
I agree - one of my favourites.
Originally posted by Tirau Danok, it's this way on my thread. Best freakin rock band ever. tht's it . period. you guys all know what that means. Not head bangin , although there are so many great abso..lute great tunes from head bangin bands but just a few per band. This thread is all about just one thing, and as everyone can see it's no simple task. best rock band ever. What you think in your mind first as the band . now, we need to recognize that so many fathers of rock were involved in influencing all the great bands we are talking about here but they, like all great artists didn't have great nands. They were just phenoms that other talented musicians were able to draw from and subsequently build their musical platforms upon. Let's do this ppl.
To stick to the thread topic is hard.. first define rock music
rock 'n' roll: a genre of popular music originating in the 1950s; a blend of Black rhythm-and-blues with White country-and-western; "rock is a generic term for the range of styles that evolved out of rock'n'roll."

Rock and roll (also spelled rock 'n' roll
For me it's McCartney for my wife it's Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band.
