To stick to the thread topic is hard.. first define rock music

rock 'n' roll: a genre of popular music originating in the 1950s; a blend of Black rhythm-and-blues with White country-and-western; "rock is a generic term for the range of styles that evolved out of rock'n'roll."
wordnet.princeton.edu/perl/webwn

Rock and roll (also spelled rock 'n' roll, especially in its first decade), also called rock, is a form of popular music, usually featuring vocals (often with vocal harmony), electric guitars and a strong back beat; other instruments, such as the saxophone, are common in some styles. As a cultural phenomenon, rock's social impact on the world is likely unparalleled by any other kind of music. ...

or even

a popular music style developed in the United States and Great Britain in the late 1960s

I think perhaps its Rock n Roll for mature adults where as pop rock evolved from record sales to the teens.. but it has to be the music that fills the dance floors and makes you want to rock or it can't be real rock music.

So which band has made more mature adults rock on the dance floor more than any other? Which band repeatedly rocks the floor at adult parties?

Its not a really heavy rock band because head shaking isn't really rocking your body. Disco, Soul, funk etc put people on the floor but are fashion sub genres, if you are honest they were a love hate trend having lost their electric guitar and real drum bashing rock appeal.

Hmm... then ask is the most enduring rock band the best?
Maybe "The Stones" or The "McCartney" Bands could fill that slot having filled stadiums since the 60s. Are they the best? Elton and Rockin Rod have endured too.. They are bands just the same as Harry James or Tommy Dorsey.. Elton has had the same core band since the late 60s.

For me it's McCartney for my wife it's Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band.

Anybody ever heard of YES?..... Led Zep, Genesis, etc etc. All finished apart from the odd wonder tour to fill their back pockets. Yes have been consistent for 39 years and never stopped, and still going.... so what makes a supergroup? Commitment and keyboards like Rick Wakeman and Guitar like Steve Howe. That's why they r still going and get better n better. Name a Rock supergroup going longer!
